I love looking for rares, tame them, kill them rehome them, ever since I found out about them and killed my very first one 3 years ago in Westfall (some ghoul). I decided to take screenshots of those I find, notably Northrend, Cataclysm and Pandaria zones, as there's far too many to include otherwise. So here we go:

April 1st update:

Been doing Archaeology for the recipe, the pets, the mount...no luck. But I found the second real camel figurine while digging in Uldum (first one went to my hordie hunter). A hunter friend came to get it





Then this morning, I found Poseidus.



But the mount will go to the bank and be a nice present for someone some day.

Possible spawn points for the Mysterious Camel Figurine. Apparently, there's one at the Vortex Pinnacle and Throne of the Four Winds too.

Taming strategy: Remove all items with armour. Weapons are fine.

Ban'thalos (spirit beast) (Mount Hyjal)
Drops Crystalline Tear of Loyalty
Taming strategy: Perch on the tip of the highest pine tree behind the statue. Drop a freezing trap. Mount up, fly slightly up, shoot Ban'thalos. Fall back on the tree, Ban'thalos gets trapped. Tame.



Skarr (shares spawn with Karkin) (Molten Front)
Drops Crystalline Tear of Loyalty
Taming strategy: (Needs MM spec) Tame. Silence the barrage cast. Deterrence and tame. It's possible as BM, stacking as much haste as possible and using corehound buff.

Anthriss (Molten Front)

Taming strategy: Shoot Anthriss, run into the lava pool with the spike. Make sure you'e swimming. Tame.



Solix (unique skin) (Molten Front)
Drops Crystalline Tear of Loyalty
Taming strategy: Use aspect of the cheetah. Drop a frost trap in front of the pool with Solix, wait for cooldown. Shoot with concussive shot, kite through frost traps. When the energy bar is at 40, deterrence, tame.
Warning: If energy bar reaches 0, Solix will die.



Skitterflame (Molten Front)

Taming strategy: Use scare beast. Tame.



Kirix (Molten Front)
Drops Crystalline Tear of Loyalty
Taming strategy: Use aspect of the wild. Stand on the rock on Kirix' ledge. Use a corehound buff if available. Deterrence, tame.

This doesn't work anymore. One way to do it is hop on the floating rock that gives the wind buff. Stand in the middle, facing Kirix's ledge, turn right and press your spacebar to jump across on the furthest floating rock. The convalescence of winds buff gives you 100% haste, making taming Kirix a piece of cake. But you can also tame from the rock that gives the wind buff, it will just take longer and Kirix might evade. Still, haveing a corehound to pop heroism before dismissing it and tame Kirix is always a bonus.




Deth'tilac (unique skin) (Molten Front)
Drops Crystalline Tear of Loyalty
Taming strategy: Use a trash spider pet. Kite Deth'tilac through frost traps while continuously attacking her. Use concussive shot whenever possible. Send the spider in, let Deth'tilac deth strike it. Revive, repeat till Deth'tilac is under 20% health. Dismiss/abandon the spider, make sure you're out of her reach. Tame.
Warning: If Deth'tilac uses deth strike on a target, she will lose 10% of her health. If she is too low, she WILL kill herself. Make sure you can complete the tame without getting too close. Watch out for other people trying to melee.

An easier way is to have a druid root Deth'tilac for you.

Mists of Pandaria Beta Rares


To save a lot of space, bandwidth and my nerves, I have decided to post actual information about the rares of Mists of Pandaria on my Beta blog, found here:

Snowbird, I'm not sure what to suggest. And generally, I wonder if the images are too large for some people? So the loading takes just too long. I apologize if they are.

I might have found/solved the problem. Had all on imageshack, moved to imgur now and replaced the ones where there was just text saying "image". In time, will replace them all with slightly smaller versions. Are there still some that don't load?

And Cataclysm complete! Hurray!! *mumbles something about screening an unengaged Aeonaxx...*

Might want to add that Ghostcrawler is a spirit beast, I mean i'm sure it's obvious but you tagged the others as spirit beasts
