Just think it would make it clear that the mob you're attacking isn't going to drop awesome loot. Of course in the process others may see that as something to kill to grief hunters

Does he evade if attacked at range, as it seems he's cannonfodder if not as I've not seen mentioned that he has ranged attack (unlike Kirkin)

Hmm that would be an interesting idea actually, I think a really good idea. Then people would know it drops nothing.

I think a Green Dragon portrait would be most fitting.

I think it would be a nice implemention since it would be something that people can easily notice and then you wont have those people who say "oh I didnt know it dropped nothing" since the unique portrait is obvious. They could just add it in the patch notes, that all green dragon portrait are rare tames and dont drop any good loot. I think with how the tames are extremely harder to do now and it is still hard to kill most of the rares here I think "Noah" and the other devs are working on ways to try and help the hunter class out. Even from other hunters ^.^

So hopefully its something that is just kinda recoloring really.

As much as I am not usually a fan of "hunter centric" specific things (like achievements or w/e), this is actually a really cool idea.

And it should totally be green. That's our class color

Personally I would like to see all such intended pets be slightly phased out of play. They would be visible to any player, but could not be targeted, except by tame.

or

Blizz could implement something similar to the Camel Figurines in Uldum. These figurines could only be selected by hunters, and doing so would port the hunter away to a mini instance where he would face an epic tame.

However, this is all quit a lot to expect Blizz to implement for a small fraction of the player-base.

I don't like the idea.

I'm not a huge fan of hunter-centric thinking. While the "taming challenges" were put in for us, everyone pays to play the game. And so that means if they want to be an ass and kill a rare because they found it first, they have every right to do so.

I'm not digging the whole "ME ME ME" mentality as of late.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he never stated that the rares would be unattackable or phased out and only visibile to hunters. The only thing his idea would prevent is clueless people attacking tamable rares hoping to get some phat loot. If someone already knows that the mob is "meant" for hunters and still wants to kill it, well, he can do it anyway even if the dragon crest is green instead of silver.

I think it's less of an indication that "THIS IS FOR HUNTERS ONLY" and more of an indication of "THIS DOESN'T DROP ANYTHING USEFUL." Maybe a bronze dragon, as a more neutral color.

Yea i would perfer the dragon color to be something very uninteresting, green might make people leap after the pet cause they think its some super epic rare creature with 359 loot xD A really dull color that sets it apart, like bronze as Kalli suggested would work a little better (bronze, silver, gold though the silver dragon is pretty grey, almost as if it was trash when it def aint lol)

I would looooooove for this to happen tho, it'd be really nice to see someone pass by a hunter designed pet without a second glance

Bronze would be too confused with Gold(Bronze is essentially just a darker shade of it) so it shouldn't be yellow of any kind and I think Green is a wonderful suggestion. Epic is purple.

look at the little box on the right hand side of the screen, its a brown bar with the name Sepia in it, i rather like that color :3 i thought bronze was more of a dark dull copper till i looked it up lol

Its stated that these are rare tameable beasts that are a taming challenge. I am sorry but I do not get the whole idea of "all hunters do is whine and want special treatment over a rare I found"... reality is

1. Said hunter could have spent days/weeks/months trying to find this one pet to use constantly for something you happen to come across and thought 25g is worth more then someones peace of mind?
2. hunters work hard to tame them, its not a put trap down and easy tame anymore. We could spend 10-40 mins to tame it, and spend alot of gold trying to tame it with something we like you could have killed pretty easily.
3. we spent alot of gold and effort getting it

so do I feel that a hunter deserves something like a rare they camped for? yes.. I do. you want a challenging kill, kill those 4 that blizzard implemented for YOU to kill.

You're assuming EVERY hunter that goes out to tame one of these pets will be "use[d] constantly". Not so. Some people tame the pet, then realize they don't like it and get rid of it seconds later. Yet "Oh, that's not wrong at all!" when it's just as bad as killing them.

Also, at this point, it's quite obvious Blizz is favoring hunters. I.E. Special pets and special ways to tame said pets. Dropped tame beast cast time. Making pets SUPER hard to kill. Tear drop. I'[ve noticed not a lot of people step back and say, "Hey, other classes would love this treatment too."

My druid would love new travel forms. My lock would kill for more demon choices, or even being able to name them. My mage wants a phoenix elemental/familiar akin to the water elemental for fire tree, please. Or at least being able to name his elemental.

And yet people still want more. *shrug.* I have a feeling we'll debate this to the end of time. Some people don't see themselves as selfish, others do.
