I have been trying to tame one of the oil stained hawks. I spent an hour today there, but with no luck. I am doing this myself, using Immolation Trap. I have it timed pretty well, and I think I've pulled it off a few times. What happens is, the mob dies, and I see the tame pet animation go off, and the corpse disappears. But the corpse doesn't have the oil stained look anymore, and when I resurrect the pet, neither does it. So my questions are, am I doing it wrong? Should I not be using Immolation Trap? Is it even possible post-4.1? Or is everything going right, and I just need to get lucky?

hmm...when I tamed the wolf with the knife in his head, I remember I would hit revive pet till his body disappeared, then log out and back in.

No offense, but...yet another one of these threads? I can't find the big thread we just had on here, but there's only one method working on these types of pets right now and that's the revive method.

The method basically involves you killing the pet at the same time you're taming it while spamming revive pet at some point in the process.
