Most flayers are humanoids but can also exist as beasts.Flayers have six limbs: two pairs of arms and one pair of legs. One pair of arms is notably bigger than the other, which is closer to the body than the bigger ones. Flayers have no hands, but rather claws that it uses for defense and scaling rock. Adult flayers are distinguishable from younger ones by their size and horn-like growths on their backs and shoulders. Adults also have bigger arms and claws than the younger ones. In areas where crystal growth is abundant, the flayers have developed the peculiar growth of crystalline shards from their backs and shoulders.
The young are hatched from eggs, however, it's unknown if only the matriarch lays the eggs or if any females are allowed.

It can be skinned hence why I think it should all be beast.

Blizzard has strong feelings against allowing Hunters to tame and keep anything even remotely humanoid in appearance, presumably because they want to avoid any implications of slavery. I’m sure there’s some people around here that can tell you the story of the tamable “Worgen” glitch that used to exist in the early days of the LK era, along with the lengths Blizzard went to in order to keep it from being used even after the glitch was fixed. Bottom line, though, is that I just don’t see Blizzard ever letting players tame pets like this.

Pretty much what Sigrah said. If it resembles a humanoid. It will not become tameble.

Do you know of any left in the game that are classed as beasts? If so, please let me know. I thought I tracked them all down and Noah fixed them :)

Primates. We have gorillas and monkeys. In the real world, gorillas are very close relatives of ours and arguably quite intelligent and capable of thought and emotion in ways similar to our own. I would say that a rock flayer is far less like a human than a gorilla is. But, hey, that's just my opinion.

I would loooooove for a rock flayer as a pet and while they seem more beast in mind, they're more humanoid in appearence while gorillas are the opposite-- also because people keep monkeys/gorillas/lemurs as pets in RL i guess its more acceptable -shrug-

well imho I don't see it as humanoid at all. I try to think that any skinnable mobs as not humanoid.

I see Rockflayer as an evolved insectoid that resembles a raptor.

Worgen are skinnable

If worgen and rockflayers can be skinned, everything should be skinnable. A nice gnome-skin poncho would take the chill off those frosty nights in Deepholm.

As of Cata, I'm pretty sure worgen are no longer skinnable; at least the new models aren't to my knowledge.

I don't think they are either. haven't noticed any that are (thankfully...that was really quite disturbing)

Yeah, I think I remember checking to see if they were skinnable or not and I'm like 95% certain they're not (dunno bout the ones in GH or anything, I'm referring only to the new models in Silverpine/Hillsbrad).
