Talk nerdy to me

Alright guys, I need your help. I've been arguing with my S/O way too long on this. We got talking about Mythbusters explosions and the topic will not die. The big question is: are the explosives measured in force or in physical weight? I say that if they said "800 pounds of explosives" that it has that amount of blasting power. My S/O says it is the weight. I'm hoping someone with a science background can help me out. Also, feel free to rave about Mythbusters/explosions/Jamie's mustache.

I always though it was the physical weight of the explosive they were exploding. LOL

So did I.
Besides, don't you use some energy measurement for bombs?

I'm pretty sure it's the force of the explosion they're talking about. Unless they specifically say it's the physical amount of explosive substance.
Jamie's mustache is frightening in its awesomness.

Well, I'm not an expert on explosions, but as for Jamie...

The resemblance is almost frightening, no?
Maybe Jamie was raised by walruses!
I hope Kari comes back soon, even if it is just a quick cameo.

And by the way - does anyone know whatever happened to Scotty, the girl in the early episodes? I'm sure I've watched all of the MB episodes, and she just seemed to disappear.

There are bombs that are called "mega-ton" bombs.
Do you really think they weigh in at over one million tons?

I don't!
It actually is a comparison to the force of
Trinitrotoluol (TNT). It's pretty complicated as it has to do with temperature, air pressure and other stuff.
So when they say, they found an 800 pound bomb, they actually mean: "We've found a bomb that would have had the same destructive force as 800 pounds of TNT would have had."
At least, that's what I understood from that
wikipedia article.
Edit: Forgot the wikipedia-link.

Talk nerdy to me
The quantumforce in the megaflux capacitor is overabundant! We must divert power to the tertiary forcefield generators, or else face imminent destruction!
The processors not responding!
Collapse the shield! I'm going to attempt a manual reboot!

Saturo:
Have you ever thought about "to attempt a manual reboot" on your brain?
@
Kamalia:
I always think of the famous german cook
Horst Lichter, who has his own TV show.

Jamie's mustache is terrifyingly awesome, but it only increases in awesome tenfold when combined with his hat.
Awesome hat!

I've watched pretty much every episode of Star Trek there is.
Bring. It. On.
