So. Today instead of trying to beat a million hunters to be the first to tame the new spirit beasts of Hyjal. I instead went to putz around Sholzar for Loque since most of my hunter friends were still online and I know of at least one or two who are still looking. Lo' and Behold there he is, BUT I noticed something odd. For one, he didn't set off my NPCscan even though it was marked to 'Search for Completed NPCs' and two, he didn't have his gold dragon indicating his rarity.

Does this mean his rarity has been knocked down? Would this also mean he might spawn more often? I'm just curious if all the Northrend SBs have all been kicked down a notch in this patch. For what reason, I cannot fathom.

Sadly, this Loque did not get a home. An alliance hunter decided ahe did not like me holding it for my friend and tried to tame. My friend got there and ended up playing aggro tag until the poor thing was dead and she proceeded to pull out Magria and laugh and dance on Loque's corpse. No one got a tame and it ended up in a PvP fest with the other side bringing in rouges, warriors, and healers. :/

I just love the douchebaggery that happens after a patch. [On an unrelated note. Is it just me or are there less and less hunters with etiquette towards other hunters now?]

Loque's never had a gold dragon, only silver. NPCscan probably didn't go off because he was in your cache. Sorry this one got killed.

Loque did have a gold symbol before. As do they all, and no, even if he was in my cache, he is part of the Frostbitten list. Setting it to 'Search for Completed Achievment NPCs' would make him ping no matter if he was cached or not.

Trust me, he didn't. He used to have a silver ELITE dragon, which he no longer does, but it was never gold. NPCscan does not go off for caches rares. "Completed Achievement NPCs" means it'll go off is he's not in your cache, but you've already gotten frostbitten credit for him due to killing him.

Normally around the floating health bar there will be a golden/silver dragon for NPC's that have them

I have always seen the elite symbols. How could that get changed so suddenly without me doing it myself? I can even sit in org and see the dragons around the guards names, at the moment.

I also cleared my cache before I even left to look. I might go ahead and chalk it up to all those fun updates needed right after patch time. I will also concede on what -color- the dragon was, but my opening post pretty much remains the same as to his sudden loss of elite status.


Have they all lost this status?

It would be easier for us to decide if you had him targetted, at the moment we can't be sure. Sorry

I will get a screenshot next time I stumble over him. It's getting harder to find him lately. Especially if I am going to be paranoid and having to watch my back since my freezing trap grants no aggro.

Dragon looks gold around the nameplate, but sadly I didn't not have him targeted at the time. I was too busy trying to line them up for a nice pic. xD

As far as I recall, Rares have never shown the dragon icon on their Unit Nameplates. Only Elites do (or Rare Elites. And Loque is a normal Rare nowadays).

But yeah, nameplates don't show the silver elite dragon that I know of, only a gold one to indicate the elite status. So the pic from earlier only shows that he lost his elite status, which we've already known for a while.

Aw, I hadn't checked in with you guys in a while and didn't know he'd lost his elite status. Now it might make it harder for him to be found since the lowbies in the area would have an easier time dispatching him now.

I got a couple more pics for you, Kalliope, if you want me to upload them for you. I was shocked and thought you guys would love to see screen shots of these two up together to further prove they didn't share a spawn timer. [Which some people I know still insist on.]

Heehee, I knew they didn't share a spawn, but Loque's spawns are so spread out that getting the two of them together is difficult! Such a rare and wonderful opportunity.

Loque always was a pushover; all that changed was the tag, as far as I know.

Here ya go. What pics I managed before a Worgen DK came down and killed Krush while I rushed to save and rehome Loque. It was glorious while it lasted and probably one of those rare occurrences that I as a hunter will only see once.
