I...I assisted in a theft of Skarr...EDIT:11:26pm EST:AGAIN!

EDIT: 11:26 EST:
Wow, I come back after a few hours, Skarr is up again, and I notify my good pal Elffy. We go over, I try to help with a second silence shot, but take aggro by accident. Both of us feign, I give her buff food and a Spirit Beast Mend, and as she's taming, a random worgen hunter walks up, shoots Skarr down to like 20% hp, then tames without flaw. My god, why must GMs be so useless in these cases?

I was sitting at the spawn points for Karkin and Skarr, and BLAM, Skarr is up. I have no interest in him, but I'm partied with Elffy, so I tell her to hurry over. I fake an attempt to tame it, doing it wrong purposefully over and over to make it look like I'm working on it. Several other hunters come by, and die from the fire attack. Elffy was one of them, and I saw Skarr being tamed after she ressed. I thought it was her tame, so I did a silence shot and auto attack cancel so I wouldn't take aggro.

Then, she asks "OMG WHERE IS IT?!". I look next to her, no tamed pet, but I see Skarr tamed. WHAT WHAT WHAT? Then, some random, insignificant character appears, freshly tamed cat next to them. I assisted the thief by accident!

So much shame. I feel so bad about that. I don't care if that worthless thieving PEST was happy or thankful, I ruined the chance for someone who just helped me today. I know it's just a game, but dammit, that really riles me.

EDIT for clarity:
- She was alive when it was being tamed. I thought she was up top out of sight due to floating rocks.
- I did have whispers asking if I was going for Skarr, and I said yes to each of them in an attempt to hold it for Elffy. I should've mentioned that first.

Well. She died, so it was the hunter's chance to give it a shot, to be fair. It wasn't really theft. You die, you die. I'm sorry they lost it, that said, but you shouldn't feel that guilty. Unless she was taming it, at that moment, after she rezzed (You never said if she was or not, so I don't know.) then it's fair game.

Well that sucks either way. It's just plain common courtesy to help others and let them get it if they were first.

Much sadness abounds :(

Not sure you read that right, Azun. Kik helped someone tame a pet s/he way trying to get for someone else. A was helping B but C came along, and A accidentally helped C, instead of B.

Yes, but she also said B was one of those that died. At any rate, if someone dies trying to tame it or waiting to try and tame it, it's open season for anyone else that wants to try. It's unfortunate that the poster inadvertently helped someone else, but it's not theft if she and/or her friend died at any point.

She wasn't upset that someone else tamed it or if she was, she was more upset that she HELPED someone else. I imagine it feels like a betrayal. Seemed like that was the point more than another person taking the cat, and it was more a frustration with herself thing than another person being there thing.

What had happened is when i had gotten over there i was at half health from the flames and Kikanu had FDed to let me have a try. when he FD'ed the Barrage Skarr casts finished on Kikanu and it accidentally hit me, killing me, when i was running back he saw another hunter, thought it was me taming and helped her. Its all good though i know he was trying to help and i will get Skarr next time! :D

Really, with the current chaos in the questing zones, it's a free for all. Common courtesy works when there are two of you looking for Loq', but today I just looked and there were at least 8 hunters on the prowl in the questing zone. Stealing with a Disracting Shot is just wrong, but if someone dies, it's up for grabs.
