For all the Skarr/Karkin seekers

Good news for all the non-MM hunters hunting Skarr/Karkin.

After checking Fordprefect's comment on wowhead , I can indeed confirm the strategy to be valid.

On the last rock when you jump from the furnace to fireplume, there is a gust of wind that you can see in here, jumping onto that will fly you up onto the island and give you a 2min buff Convalescence of Winds, and the buff reads 'Increases your attack speed and haste by 100% and allows you to jump much higher and farther than normal.'

With the buff and ancient hysteria I had not problem taming both Skarr and Karkin before they even finished their first castings.

Enjoy~

Ah of course, this is great news! I noticed the buff when I was helping a friend get up to the plume, but didn't really give it a thought at that moment how big a help it could be to a non-MM hunter.

And now that it's been posted here, they're gonna hotfix it. x.x;

Actually, I think it might be intentional. Why else have it increase haste?

Quite sure it's intentional like Lupis said. It's a useful buff all around the plume, not just for the two rares. Some of the mobs there have got over 150k health and spawn at a reasonable rate so, makes it a bit easier to plow through.

I plow through just fine on my hunter and druid, without the buff. So I personally doubt it's intentional for taming. They just hotfixed these guys so Taunts and Distracting Shot no longer work.

Players discover "Get haste gear, haste food, and a core hound; these times are haste sensetive!"

Devs discuss "Hey, let's make these tames haste sensetive; you'll die if you don't tame fast enough. Let's also put these totally unrelated haste buffs everywhere!"

See why that doesn't make sense? Agreed that it's intentional.

It's likely intentional. If it wasn't already removed after we talked about said buff on the PTR in the first place (and it wasn't), then I don't see why it would suddenly be removed now. :)

They're not supposed to help us with the tames. Thats the thing. They're supposed to be challenges, not 'oh well we're gonna put in these mechanics but we'll hold your hand so you dont screw up if you're not prepared' tames.

Allow me to link the LATEST(aka Today)'s hotfix...that wasn't removed in PTR.

Just because it wasn't removed from the PTR doesn't mean Blizz put it there on purpose. ;)

I feel it's best to not assume if something was completely intentional. Even if it was, Blizz has been known to change things on the fly.

As a reminder, Skarr and Karkin were added later than the others and have a shorter collective spawn timer. They're not supposed to be as hard as the others. :) The haste buff really only impacts their tames, since the buff is dodgy for Kirix (I kept losing the buff before getting on his rock most of the time) and doesn't really impact Skitter, since his tame isn't haste-based.

Just seems goofy to have haste-based tames, and a haste buff available, and have them NOT be related, even if only a litle.

Yeah, the buff seems to drop off if you leave Fireplume...it did yesterday before I attempted Skarr (was going to try to double it up with Hysteria) and with Hysteria alone, he flattened me. A warrior then proceeded to jump in the middle of the hunters and kill him.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked since there was a decent crowd of 3-4 hunters taking hapazard turns attempting (one would die, another would attempt, etc). Can't even report him to his GM...because he was the GM.

I know, I was there...:( Instead, I submitted him to wowjackass.com lol. One of my guildies told me he's been known for pulling crap.

Yes, and with that great buff, its really fun to go rock jumping, and I have perfected (almost) the far Kirix jump!

I would have to say that this does to me seem like it would be intended. I mean... Blizzard has said NUMEROUS times how they don't want people to feel forced to pick one spec over another... Which the current strats seem to require.
