Last patch?

I saw someone mention this in another thread. Is 4.3 is supposed to be the last patch? That would make it a very long time until something new. They haven't even announced the expansion yet. (I would assume they are going to do it at Blizzcon.). They could change the number on the patches. Has anyone heard if this is definately the last?

Well originally I believe they did say 4.3 was going to be the last content patch before cata was launched, but since then they have said they were going to spread the patches out. Hence 4.1 and 4.2 being 2 different patches when originally they were planned to be one big patch. So I would imagine with that we won't get a raid this patch, and that we would get some additional heroics. Personally I'm praying for the abyssal maw. Why you may ask; perfect excuse to introduce hydra's as a hunter pet. This would also explain why the hydra family was put into game in 4.1, but the switch was never flipped. Abyssal maw was suppose to be with 4.1 as well as the firelands as I stated before so ya. That's my 2 cents.

I'm not sure if 4.3 would be last patch... Granted that 4.1 and 4.2 came out so quickly in comparison to their 3.0 counterparts in Wrath. If 4.3 was the last of the patches, then it would have to be a massive one to keep us busy for a LONG time since we have yet to hear about the next expansion. If they're keeping true to their word on schedule, we still have at least another year until anything like that comes out.

So, if I had to make my best guess, 4.4 will most likely be the last patch – but I honestly think we'd get a 4.5 non-pre expansion content patch.

4.3 will likely be a dungeon patch, perhaps with some new niftiness to do on the side. Maybe we'll even see a little more about the Forsaken/Worgen conflict?

Ebon, you hit my logic right on the nose! I would love to see more of the Forsaken/Worgen conflict, as we don't really see any influence past the starting zones. Sylvanas has something planned, and the proverbial crap will hit the proverbial fan, and chaos will ensue and it will be good.

This is just what I think, but... I can't really imagine there being anymore expansions for WoW. I'm sure at some point in Cataclysm everyone's gotten a little bored, and the Molten Front and Firelands will keep us busy for a limited amount of time only. Everything is rather samey these days and most people have noticed that. Whether or not you enjoy it doesn't really matter, it's still samey, and most people don't want 'samey' stuff. Everyone wants something new, and judging by current ideas, I can't imagine them coming up with anything brand new and exciting from here on in.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong, maybe they could turn the tides and come up with a really exciting, different and addictive expansion. But that'll only happen if Activision pisses off...

4.2 came out so quickly cause people got bored with 4.1 fast! In order to keep everyone busy they had to work quickly, all I am extremely happy with is that 4.2 hasnt had as many issues as 4.1 did. I mean 4.1 was BRUTAL when it first came out, noone could really do anything. So I am glad with this patch and I am sure they are probably already working hard on 4.3!

I wouldn't worry too much about the numbering. We're probably due for another couple of raids still. :)

Well I can assure you there will be atleast 2 more xpacs. This is unless blizzard lied to us completely. It is also possible that it would be 3 xpac (ending the level cap at level 100). The next xpac being emerald dream is also extremely unlikely for a couple of reason.
1. They just revamped azeroth, and another revamped azeroth now with more trees! would just piss people off.
2. For the moment the "bad guy" in the emerald dream is imprisoned in the eye of ysera hence malfurion waking up to help with hyjal.
3. There are alot o f interesting and new places blizzard could go. We still have all the dark portals to go through that they claimed would be open in an xpac. As well as we still have to deal with azshara and the naga as blizzard said she would be the last boss of here own xpac, and since the whole naga story is building up right now it most likely that would probably be an xpac.

but that was completely off-topic

/rerail thread.

Ideas for x-pacs don't matter. If there's barely anyone left playing the game, they're not going to release x-pacs. Duh. :P

But she is Forsaken, she will slaughter anything that gets in her way, including a staple joke including women and kitchens and sandwiches.

On my perspective I believe Abyssal Maw should be added along with our fellow Hydras we have been begging Blizzard to add sense PreBC. Personally I think they should do something totally different maybe adding a new races via 4.3 (if Abyssal Maw is coming) it would add a huge twist not to mention it would connect with a little bit of lore? Maybe Nagas (Alliance) and maybe something more vicious for the horde, but it draws down to "Aquatic Races" so they do ALL their quests Under-Water from level 1-(LevelCap) and if the race is somewhat awkward give them a different lore to them such as - "The Nagas of Abyssal Maw were once Prisoners est." so it gives them backround so it's not as awkward to walk in and say "Hey, look i'm a naga!" I mean something for the horde like a Faceless One wouldn't be a good fit because they serve Cho'gall and Deathwing endlessly. But I suppose it's just a thought it would be neat but if you ask me, Hydras > Race. So I am excited to see what Blizzard reveals in the next patch. I need more stable space :(

And there's meant to be something to do with Alcaz Island (?) sooner or later... Perhaps along with that we'll get tameable hydras!

Examining the history of WOTLK, 3.3.0 was released about a year after launch and was officially the last major patch, but the Ruby Sanctum wasn't unlocked until a point release six months later. If that timetable is still followed, they'll still be unlocking stuff for another year or so, with the next expansion due late fall 2012.

And believe me they'll keep releasing expansions for as long as they think they can make money doing so.
