It's been an interesting patch for me with a lot of highs, lows and in betweens. I've learned the beauty of common spawns (No frakking heart attacks in the zone and I can do dailies without aggravating everyone x_x). I've learned a lot of people are incredibly nice and that just as many are incredibly cruel.
I also learned my reflexes aren't /quite/ what they used to be (Woe). But I've gained a lot of insight and perspective I didn't have when I was young, dumb and a really big Unreal Tournament player. I figured to post pictures without setting off everyone's NPCscans, I'd take them as I went along stomping on and gathering fires.
First up, Magria!
I camped her on patch day alongside two good friends. I didn't expect to have much luck. Nahth, a kindly troll huntress informed me she was up. Faster than a horde of naked Night Elves descending upon Alliance, I bolted down the hill to tame. And tame I did! Here we are in Hillsbrad. This week has been kind of a blur. I can't recall the exact order I got them all in, so I apologize. My very last tame was Ankha. I saw her in person and *squee*. I love the Gondria skin (obviously). I felt a bit greedy and grabbity on this one honestly. I knew people wanted her too. So I camped naked once more. A friend who wanted her camped too and we stacked. I let him take the first Ankha and so the next morning I waited. Lo! Afternoon and here she is!
Now, for Kirix. Kirix is kind of a weird story. No one really wanted him except for an orc and I thought well. I like green. Green is good. I also like lava spiders and their little fire waggle butt dance. It's just adorable. LET'S GO. After earning myself a healthy rez timer from failing to jump I was sweating bullets. A party of rogue, mage and warlock were trying to kill poor Kirix! My fears were allayed mere moments later as Kirix went all Dethklock MURDERSPIDER on them. Literally. I saw splashes of green and dead gnomes everywhere.
Well then. I was slightly more nervous about attempting a tame! With the help of a shaman buddy though, I somehow pulled it off. And here is Kirix as yet unnamed pondering extending his vast MURDER EMPIRE into the seven seas. I don't know that's a good idea Kirix... Thinking of maybe naming Kiri as Margarita, Plantain, or Kiwi.
Deth'tilac was an unexpected gift. We had been camping her for Nahth, when she popped. A night elf hunter was giving it ago and kept failing, so I asked to try. I felt kinda bad I ended up taming her. :/ But I appreciate their help and am glad people were nice. I named her Despair after my favorite Sandman Character alongside Death. She's really grown on me. I like the color scheme a LOT more in person, especially with the subtle flames.
And while she isn't rare, Banana is the ORIGINAL BANANARCHY SPIDER. I had lost Anthiss to some very obnoxious paladin and was devastated. Crushed. He knew we were taming. He laughed at us. But that's alright. Anthiss spawns in a bad location, and that can't always be helped. So, broken hearted (and after the loss of a solix - neither of us were at fault), I tamed a happy common naner spider! And she's still one of my BSFs (Best spiders forever). Common is beautiful and quite frankly, it's nice not to set off 'WTFs' in general from other hunters or blast out my eardrums with NPCscan. I feel a lot of adoration and acceptance now that I think of it. Camping kinda sucks, and sometimes you have to know when it's okay to walk away for awhile.
Speaking of commons, I had originally grabbed a common red. I had seen Skitter once but an orc beat me to it. He lost it a couple of times, but I felt it best not to run in and snag. Well, I was doing loops around while we camped Deth to see if anything was up for people/needed to be tamed so others could come up (It's like rubbing a lucky rock really). So there Skitter was. And nary a hunter on the whole freaking rock area. I was shocked honestly. I asked around but no luck. Since I'm a trap fiend (I knew playing in vanilla would pay off one day), I set to it. Almost lost it when he hit 2 energy and I broke the trap. But a tame later... I still need to think of a name. Maybe Pepper, Chili, Tamale or Spice. ProfSkitters also amuses me a lot.
Finally, last but certainly not least, my orangey spider. This one comes with a bit of guilt and sadness. I tried to get a friend to tame her, but we just couldn't make it work. So Solix reset. My friend gave me the okay to tame her. A horde shaman ran up and punched Solix, then found out quickly that Orangey spider has the power of EXPLODE! Orc and three hunters were exploded over the cave. Owch.
Strangely, I kinda botched this one myself. Whilst kiting, I got blown off the ledge by a lavaball. Fearing a reset I hit concussive shot out of reflex. Wait. The spider's still coming. Here I am in lava and THE SPIDER IS COMING. I threw my last trap. Solix's energy dipped (She had an earth shock debuff on her. >_< Guess our shaman friend was still at it) just so and I mashed my tame button. I was taking damage on both ends - lava AND spider.
BWOOOSH! Best sound to hear during a tense tame. I had an orange spider! Still need to name 'im. Maybe Mango, Tang, Tangerine, Lava or something. Perhaps just Orange. Also, I had to hop out of the lava after.
These however, are just my tames. I'm happy people I know are steadily getting their new friends. Had two someones get Banny today, a deth tame and an Ankha besides mine.
