Transporting animals...feels good.

Something I've been getting into lately...an organization where I live called HART (Helping Animals Rescue Team) helps the shelter in getting dogs to new homes or rescues, even when they're hundreds of miles away. I tend to volunteer to drive dogs (mostly) to new places so they can be in their "furever" homes :D. It's fun, the dogs are great to meet, and it's a big help to the shelter and to the animals needing new homes!

If anything is like this near you, maybe give it a try if you have free time and a vehicle to help! It goes a long ways (and it's a tax write off lol).

We're down to 1 vehicle atm, but it's something I have assisted with in the past and would love to do more of. Kudos to you for helping, it saves lives just as sure as the rescues do.

I wish the shelter I got my Saint Bernard from did this. I love her to death and drove across the state into the next state to go get her  - I'd do it all again but having someone else bring her to me woulda been a bit easier ;) Kudos to helping out!

That's a wonderful thing you're doing, kudos to you helping out. If I had a car I'd totally help out with it, seeing how happy people are when they get to be with someone who is going to love them...it's so sweet.

This service that is provided in bringing dogs to the new owners is wonderful. This is the main reason that my Honey (golden/pyr) came to be my companion. She was clear across the state, and I would not have driven all the way there to get her, but this was offered by the shelter I got her from, so she came to be with me.

I fell in love with her when I saw her picture on the internet, and it happens that she is the perfect dog for me.

Transports are so fun! My sister and I have done quite a few, and it's amazing the amount of care and time people put into it all. And it makes such a difference...I once had the lucky final leg of a transport. I had the honor of giving an elderly couple a Shiba Inu they'd been for waiting weeks to meet and take home...the tears of happiness in their eyes, and their gratefulness, made it so worthwhile. One of my friends got their dog--a survivor of Hurricane Katrina--through a transport. I highly recommend doing this, even if you just volunteer a single day of a random weekend. Totally worth it, and help is always needed. :)
