Leveling Up Hunter

I'd have to say that throughout leveling up thus far, Crystal, the re-skinned Duskstalker from Teldrassil is my favorite pet. Although not "hard" to obtain, I NEVER see anyone with her, and I get comments on her from other hunters all the time.
I have made a distinct point to go tame the rare spawns I want in my end-game stable the MOMENT I achieved the level required to tame them. Otherwise it's just a cheap, easy tame. Unfortunately, Crystal is the exception. Since she's level eight and hunters can't tame until level twenty.
However, it was still a whirlwind adventure at that level. I walked all the way through Ashenvale into Darkshore, and was ganked almost immediately by some 85 Alliance Death Knight. He tried to camp me but with smart use of tree and underwater cover, I gave him the slip.
Once I managed to get over to Teldrassil about an hour later, stopping on the north coast of Darkshore to grab Shadow, my Ghost Cat, I was treated by seeing Crystal (Duskstalker) roaming the forest south of Dolanaar.
Now I could've saved myself about an hour and a half of work and travel time had I come back at even level 60 and flown in, tamed, and hearthed. But I didn't do that. WoW is already an easy game. The only real memories you can have in a game like this are the ones you work for. And work for them I did.

I had a similar experience in Winterspring. Except I got lucky. In a single visit at level 53, both Rak'shiri and Sian-Rotam were moseying around next to Shy-Rotam. A level 57 Alliance hunter and I got there about the same time. We both knew what the other wanted, a straight shot at the two cats.
Rather than be civilized and take one while letting the other hunter have the other cat, he went straight for me. Being four levels higher than me, I suppose he expected a relatively easy fight. But I wasn't about to give up on my tames.
I dove behind the rock to break his line of sight, then jumped into a quick aspect of the cheetah just to get a few extra feet of distance. I took a big risk in sparing the time to lead the hunter away from the cats all the way south towards Everlook, but I darted as quickly as I could through some heavy brush just past Hell-Hoot's hill, hoping he would follow me.
Sure enough, he did.... Right through the brush......
And into the Freezing Trap I'd laid there. What he didn't expect is that I was fully hit capped up to his level. He was stuck with seemingly no way out, and I high-tailed it back to the cats for 2 quick tames, then used Sian-Rotam himself as the final instrument of that alliance hunter's demise when he finally broke free and caught up with me.
Man was he mad. He rolled a lev 1 horde alt just to moan at me. Fun times.
