You heard that right. Arclite finally has a rugged mount. Behold!
This to me is quite an achievement for two reasons. First, it took a lot of questing and Runecloth. Second, Arclite is not the type of person who would ride a rainbow ostrich. She needed a mount that better fits her image. This image, to be precise.
And then, things start to get even better. I found another Belf with a mount just like mine.
And then, things got even better. Two giants on massive mounts invaded the roof of the bank!
Finally, I remembered those wolf riders near Garadar. I realized that I had one of their mounts...
So yeah. Today was fun. This could be the best mount decision since I got my old Nelf Hunter an Elekk (Or since I got Vicario a Thunder Bluff Kodo. Either way, the "best decision since" part is still there.)
Just so this topic isn't purely talking about me, here are topics within a topic:
-Have you ever obtained a mount different from your race's default that was absolutely fated for your character?
-Did you realize it right away?
-Is it because you dislike your race's default mount?
-What is love?
-Can you please not hurt me?
-No more?
So we talked. And posed. And I think our wolves talked in Wolvish or something.

- I've obtained a horse and Mistsaber on my draenei, a raptor (From Un'Goro) on my tauren, and I am currently working on getting a wolf for my tauren as well. Because there is absolutely no way my tauren will be fitting through a door while mounted anyway, I decided, heck, might as well get one of the largest mounts in-game.
- I'd have to say my draenei's horse was meant to be, as I grinded frantically to get enough rep with Stormwind before I hit level 40. And hey, they can share hoof care tips!

- I love Kodos, but I highly dislike Elekks. They just seem like... huge, strange looking elephants. Which I suppose they are. They just don't really tickle my fancy.
- The feeling one gets when they realize
[Somebody Likes Me]!
-
- The Raven quothed in a more 1845 way.

There's no way in heck a massive, lumbering elekk fits my quick and stealthy hunter. Works just fine for my paladin when I get tired of his warhorse (I'd absolutely kill for a proper draenei paladin mount, maybe a white elekk in red/gold or purple/blue armor), but my hunter was destined for talbuks.

Ah, this reminds me of the good'ol days.
(LOL) It my day, we had to level to 40 just to get the slow mount! *fake old person grumble*
Way back when I made my Belf Hunter, I decided she wasn't really a Belf. I thought it was a grand idea to make her be raised by Trolls, thus, she needed a Raptor mount. But, as any Hordie knows, Troll rep is the hardest to grind. Even by doing all the quest available to me at the time, there was no way I was getting a Raptor as my first mount. So, I had to settle for a Hawkstrider, and the reasoning within my character's storyline was because she was sent back to Silvermoon when she got older, to learn about her actual race. The surprise was, I actually came to like the chocobo very much. I even named him! Oo''
Eventually, I managed to grind the rest of the Troll rep before I hit 60, and I happily skipped back to Sen'jin to collect my Hunter's true mount. It was a lot of fun, going along. I actually leveled up by the following the trail of Troll quests around Azeroth. XD

On my DK, I worked in low level areas all the time to get my undead horse... it was worth it

My hunter ground rep with Darnassus like crazy because I really wanted that kitty mount. I got exalted just before I hit 40, so no elekk for me, yay! Then when achievements came out, I got the ambassador title for her, and decided to check out the mounts. Turns out my draenei has a thing for goats! Who'da thunk it????? O.o So now she has all the goats (including the AV one, grabbed that one right quick!) except the black war goat, which she's grinding honour for now. Her love for goats extends to talbuk, by the way... She seems to like horned, hoofed beings... aaaaaand that's as close as I'm getting to that one!

My hunter, I quickly realized as I leveled her, was totally accepting of having feline companions, but riding one was not really up her alley. She needed something sturdier to suit her rough-and-tumble lifestyle, so she ground out the Ironforge rep and managed snag herself a white ram just after hitting 60, despite everyone's insistence I was just better off getting the cat and grabbing a ram afterward (we will not discuss the loudest protester, my friend the shaman who had done the exact same thing except -for- Darnassus rather than away from it).
Even now, after becoming an avid mount collector and having many prized mounts, including Rivendare's Deathcharger and her brand new Motorchopper, her favorite mount still remains any one of her prized rams.

Void, my death knight, has a netherdrake. Fits him perfectly.

Its funny. I never saw a mount that I just said... dayam, I gotta have that because it matches my char. I've definitely said "hell no" to a few mounts for my tauren where, and lets be honest, a tauren really need not be situated ontop of EVAR! Cows look so odd on most mounts that aren't at least as big or bigger than they are.
Then I got a mechanohog on my Belf Hunter. Damn, I thought I looked good before. Getting this mount has actually stopped me from collecting any other ground mounts and not just because I can taxi my wife around Dal when she's lagging out on her slowass rig (Next stop, housewares, women's intimate apparel and Dalaran Horde bank -- thank you for riding "EpicFail Rail").
I have to totally congrats the OP for grinding the rep for the wolf mount. Its definitely one of the best racial mounts to get, which should probably be said for all the horde mounts. Everyone on alliance seems to just want the kitties and even those get old after a while...

I'm unsure about which mount is the most commonly sought after on the Horde. On one hand, lotsa people have the Black War Raptor and the Venomhide Ravasaur. However, I also tend to see more Blood Elves on non-PvP Skeletal Horses than any other non-PvP faction mount.

My hunter NEVER rode an Elekk, despite being Draenei. I took one look at it and said "No." So she started off with a cat, to go with her ghost saber. Then, when I hit OUtlands, and found out about Talbuks, I ground for one of those and a Netherdrake. She was a hunter from Draenor, so I figured a mount from Draenor fit best. But as far as fated for my character?
Back during the Halloween event in '08, when the Headless Horseman's mount was first released, like everyone else I ran the event like crazy the first week. After getting tired of not seeing it drop though, I gave up... but then partway through the last week someone asked me to go with them and I went for the hell of it, since I already had all the regular drops. And guess what dropped?
The Headless Horseman's mount. Which I won on the roll. And I was so excited I didn't see that it didn't go into my bags.
I realized it when I went back to Shatt, and then looked for it to learn it. By the time I got back to the instance, the body was gone, so I put in a ticket. Took like 3-5 days, but I finally got it back! And that's the mount she's used ever since.
It actually really fits too. If I do go ahead with the race change to Worgen though, I'm not sure how well it'll still fit, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I did grind a Netherdrake for my Draenei DK(because he looked like he was breaking the back of any poor gryphons he rode) but other than that none of my other characters have any special mounts. Heck, my druids ARE their own flying mounts!

Laz may have grown up an Kharanos girl, but she sure as heck didn't like the Ram mounts. I know it was partially due to the fact in PvP, those things didn't quite inspire "fear" with their soft brown eyes of adorability. It's what got Laz pwned in the face for a long time LOL
Eventually, and after I'd quit my rogue to play Laz full-time as ranged DPS, I got the idea into my head that she and Tyl had met and become pals...and Laz's obsession with those Nelf Sabercats took off after that. I think the ultimate goal I had for her was the Winterspring Saber at level 60. Tumultuous 3 straight day/night farming at 75 rep per turn in (I keep saying I'm still as insane as I was back then, but people still don't believe it...), but "Oryndia" is her ever faithful companion. Though I have to admit, Lunamaere (Headless Horseman's Mount) is the other baby Laz had of whom she cherishes (and if we're talking Fliers, Winterfield's 310% all the way, baby!). My turn to summon the bastich, only time in the five years I've played I have seen that mount drop. I won the roll...and our guild's resident mount collector didn't speak to me for about six months XD
With Kas, it was a different story - he's devoted to his Raptor Mounts. Can't go anywhere without Sonique and Scalebane <3
I don't know yet about Cleyandra, Shadowfyris and Veejay (Draenei) though, haven't spent enough time thinking about it...but I sure as heck know the lil' Draenei and Elekks ain't gonna mix all that well XD

The mount my hunter seems destined to have (though I fear it will never happen

) is the ZG raptor mount. She's the rough-'n'-tumble sort of hunter, with a giant in-your-face devilsaur companion and her trusty rifle. Night elf sabers just don't cut it. The black war bear is okay for now, but someday.....someday I must have that big green raptor.

Well, the first mount that I fell in love with and knew that I had to get was the Black War Raptor. I loved the raptor mounts, and since black and red are some of my favourite colours it was just too perfect. I started grinding battlegrounds pretty much as soon as Veph was able to and purchased it when I was only level 30 or so. xD I had to wait until level 60 to use it, but I felt so accomplished that I had him waiting in my backpack for when I hit that mark. :3
The second major thing that I needed to get was the Purple Skeletal Warhorse. I adored the forsaken's mounts, and it took me a heck of a long time to grind up UC rep. I was so happy I did though, because the awesome evil horsie is probably one of my favourite mounts ever.

My hunter is a draenei, and was also one of those "oh heck no" people when it came to the elekks. I put up with it for a little while, but was quite happy to get a flying mount in outlands and leave the elekk behind most of the time.
As far as finding a mount I fell in love with - it was the white polar bear. I love white pets, and when I found out there was a white polar bear, I immediately set out to get him. I tend to ride him around in northrend and outlands just because he's so much prettier than my drake and gryphon

I've been obsessed with dinosaurs and dragons since I was a little kid.

Hence why I love reptiles and have so many of them...closest things I can get in real life. ^_^

You guys aren't alone, I can spend hours reading about dinosaurs and reptiles and the like. I'm most fond of snakes and turtles/tortoises, with lizards being a close second. Monitors are especially awesome, and crocodiles and alligators are such amazing animals, I love watching them. If I hadn't just fed Blaze last night I'd go hold him as soon as I get home tonight. Gotta let him digest, though.
