So, wandering through Firelands and finally get enough Marks to recruit Capt. Saynna, right? Well, I go through the dailies she gives me and I get one that makes me go down into the Igneous Depths to destroy the runes on the ground, right?

OH HAI THAR SOLIX.

(That would be a guildy running towards me there, popped into my guild chat with a "who wants Solix?" and he was like "alrighty".)

So my guildy gets there, tries a few times first and keeps dying cause the spider just absolutely chomps his head off. Well, I finally hop in to help seeing as it's obvious he won't be able to do it himself, feign when I get aggro, and he goes on shooting him down to 50% energy.
I yell out in party "TAME!", but he doesn't seem to listen/doesn't see. I didn't want to tear aggro off because I wouldn't have time to dismiss my pet and I don't really care for fire spiders on my tauren (on my troll, maybe, but he's parked in Sholazar for Krush).
I call out a few more times...









I think you can guess what happens next.

I'm just... I don't even.
He said that his tame wouldn't go off and that he'll do it right next time, but I have my doubts on when that "next time" will be seeing that the spiders are hunted like witches.

R.I.P Solix ;-;

Saw the same exact thing happen today to a NE hunter. He was kiting, and didn't dismiss his own pet--instead, it got too close to Solix when Solix was rooted... And of course he didn't want to abandon his spirit beast, and I guess FD was on cooldown... Tis a shame that some of these have auto-die mechanics >.<

I killed my Solix too sadly the first time around. I started tamming and it would work, but thought I don't have enough distance and he might kill me, so I backed up a few steps and started taming again, but it was too late. Happens. In the end they all spawn again : -) Got him the 2nd time around

Someone TRIED to get Solix to die on me, but I got him my first try. Really lucky I guess. Payback is no Ankha spawns after 20 hours of camping. No Magria spawns either, which is REALLY weird.

And the next day...






Is Solix, like, the most unloved thing in all Azeroth on my server or something? Someone was trying to kite him when I went in the cave for the daily, but they died when I walked in. Nobody has attempted again as of yet.

Actually, people are attempting now that I say that. Needless to say, they are all failing rather horribly.

Aaaand a chain failure killed him. The Worgen trying to kite died and he went to go own a Draenei, but died trying because of low energy.


Apparently he still hits rather hard even after the buffs are gone, its the only reason the Worgen got owned so fully.

Bah! Poor Solix! The first and only one that I saw up, I helped a friend of mine tame. It took us a good 20 minutes getting coordinated enough and me watching his energy for my friend. Several deaths, one sacrifice on my part [on accident while popping concussive shot], and a deterrence later and my friend walked away with one orange spider in tow.

I'm sad to hear he's having such a hard time on your server though. :<

I attempted a tame myself, though I quickly gave up. He ate my head off within two seconds of shooting him.

Ahaha, gotta have your trap preset and pop with a concussive shot and start RUNNING. xD No time to look back! I know it's crazy though. I've had my fair share of getting spider hugs from that one.

About 80g in repairs before I tamed Solix (not to mention the gankers trying to do me in from the last post, not all of it was Solix deaths. I got hugs from those goddamn elementals too) but it was worth it. Challenge tames really are an adrenaline rush.
