So this thread is mainly for 2 reasons

1. I have always loved raptors with a passion, I love their kicking jumps and slashing attacks BUT the new "it" pet for damage is a wolf and while I love Gotham I cannot shake the feeling of wanting a raptor at my side. So my question is would my damage suffer that much with a raptor as my dps pet instead of a wolf?

2. If I do intend on getting a raptor I would like some opinions such a old world skin or BC skin? And if so which color of the skins do people prefir..maybe what would stick out as a pet for a night elf?

Here's my new theory... who really cares if your dps will suffer? It's a game. If you want to use a raptor, then use a raptor. I'm a BM hunter that uses spirit pets. Is my dps as good as a MM hunter with a wolf? Absolutely not, but at least I'm happy.

1. Your DPS won't change enough to matter, so you'll be fine. Raptors are still one of the good pets to use, if I remember correctly, even if they're not the absolute best.

2. I'm personally partial to Goreclaw the Ravenous.

Agreed 100%. The point of a game is to have fun and enjoy yourself. Having pets you don't want or like ruins the experience of being a hunter. And hey, we have dozens of pet families for a reason. Why should you stick with the top five that everyone else has?

My favorite skins have to be the Old-World style. They look much more natural to me. Hmmm... the colours that I think would suit a NE best would have to be these three fellas.

Well, without regard towards levels, I would think that Drakuru Raptor would look great.l

I also like the old world raptors and blue is a favorite color. So I always had one of these

I lucked out when the gundrak raptors came around and I could then have both raptors as one.

Preaching to the choir It's your money, time and character. Play the pet that makes you happy. I like ye ' olde Raptors as well. The Green Skinned one's in Wetlands and ST. They just look better to me without the necklaces and feathers. The yellow and brown skins in Outland are okay as well... I had one of those called - Dawn Talon - once upon a time.

All this Wolf must have stuff is truly getting old for me. They're a great pet, but this forced connection wears thin. The buff is nice but isn't a constant thing and only people worried about damage meters will see a difference. I'm going to use my Grizzly Bear in heroics or get booted from a lot of groups lol...

Actually, as BM, Raptors have the highest DPS potential in 25Man raids; more-so than even a Devilsaur. This is a large part due to the Bleed Effect and buffage it receives and Savage Rends crit proc. However, to maximize the DPS, you will need to manually do Savage Rend; ensuring it hits when Cobra Strike is up to guarantee the 30second +10% damage proc.

As others have said, for non-BM, it is still a good DPS pet being beaten out mostly by wolves (what isn't?). So, if it's something you enjoy and like, have at it =) Personal I have always been fond of, and still use a Young Jungle Stalker. I was never a fan of the BC Raptor look and the "feathers" on the original Raptors always puzzled me.

First off, I agree with what others have said. Raptors are not poor dps at all, they're really good! I don't believe your dps would suffer enough to make a difference, or to get you booted from raids or heroics. If you like them more than wolves, you should definitely use them! You can still use your wolf, too, just swap them out. I do that with my devilsaur and spirit beast. I love them both too much to not use either of them.

As far as colors, you seem to have a blue/purple thing going on (from what I can tell), so I'd recommend blue, violet, or the bluish-purple outland model.

Well, while Raptors/Savage Rend have the highest potential DPS in the spreadsheets, A devilsaur will still out dps them due to the low proc rate of the SR buff.
