So I've been extremely lucky this past six or so hours! Figured I would share my story. :3 Sorry in advance for how wordy this is.

After swearing not to camp any of the new pets until the newness wears off for everyone, I found myself in the Molten Front earlier looking for Skarr. He wasn't up, so I decided to wander around a little and see if any of the other rares had spawned. I made my way over to Deth's spawn point, and my NPC Scan screamed through my speakers.

Now I'm terrified of spiders. Absolutely TERRIFIED. I found a huge, ugly black spider in my bath tub a few weeks ago, and since my fiance was asleep, I had to deal with it myself. I couldn't even get close, I just grabbed a bottle of bleach and frantically sprayed it (all while screaming at the top of my lungs >.>) until the stupid thing curled up and died. So the idea of taming a spider has always freaked me out. When I saw five of the new pets were spiders, I was thoroughly disappointed.

I stood there for a few minutes, just staring at him. There were no other hunters around. I never read up on how to tame him since I wasn't interested, but since he looked so lonely, I figured I might as well look it up and try. So I tried. And tried. Sometimes I'd screw up my snake trap and he'd make a b-line for my face and promptly slam me into the dirt. Another time I backed up too far and fell off the ledge. I went from not even wanting the damn thing to getting so angry that I kept screwing it up. The more I stared at him, the more I wanted to tame him.

A night elf DK came up and (I think) tried to help, and then another hunter showed up. I thought it would be just my luck that once I decide I actually want him, someone else had to show up. xD But I was wrong, he asked me if I wanted help! I told him yes and explained how I'd kept screwing up. He invited me to a group, and we switched off pet sacrifices and he used a spider (his own Deth, actually) in order to help slow him even more while I revived my pet. Finally Deth's health got low enough and the hunter told me to tame him, and I did.

I thanked the hunter for being so helpful, and we parted ways. I went back to Orgrimmar, and the more I watched my new little purple friend, the more he grew on me. I decided to name him Phobia, in hopes that he will help me conquer my arachnophobia once and for all!

Then about a half hour ago, I found myself sitting in a tree in Hyjal waiting on Ban'thalos. He didn't even appeal to me at first (never been a fan of birds), but the more screenshots I saw people post of him on here, the more I realized that he's actually quite pretty. :3 I sat there for about ten minutes, and finally decided, "Meh, I'm not going to camp. I'll just wait until I get lucky and he spawns while I'm here," and of course, I forgot where I was and jumped off the tree.

Right as I landed and almost died from fall damage, the drums of my NPC Scan roared at me and my screen flashed "Ban'thalos found!" I proceeded to freak out and frantically try and get back in the tree. He circled me once, and I couldn't remember how to get him down before my trap disappeared. So I took a breath and looked around; not a single hunter in sight. I laid another trap, flew straight up, and shot an Arcane Shot at him after dismounting.

He didn't even Moonfire me, he just landed in my trap. In my hurry, I forgot about my Ancient Hysteria+dismiss pet macro, and just started mashing buttons. I managed to dismiss my pet, and pop a haste potion before taming him. Seconds later, his name became friendly, and he started happily flapping his wings on top of me. xD

I still have no idea what to name him. He really is gorgeous. He started growing on me after seeing loads of screenshots, but screenshots really don't even do him justice. He has this beautiful little glowy essence around him, and the way he looks as he flaps his wings is incredible. :3

...As I was sorting my stable after posting this thread, I realized Ghostcrawler was the last spirit beast I needed. I thought "Hm, why not" and ported to Vash'jir.

I went down to his spawn point and there he was. o_o I've always been jealous of people with stupidly good luck, but it appears now I'm one of them! xD

I'm actually the exact same way as you with spiders! Sort of.. In some specific instances they can intrigue me... but in others I'm almost paralyzed with fear. Example.. I've sat outside and fed some grasshoppers from my infested yard before... Or liked to watch the tiny red ones that would make webs around the lights in my basement (it was furnished, so we spent a lot of time down there) where I grew up.. However.. sometimes... I just.. can't even think when they're near by.. Like there was a huge jumping spider (biggest I've ever seen.. the thing was bigger than a freaking quarter! No joking... if that's normal for you.. normally they're pretty small.. like.. well under 1/10th the size I saw...). And I was playing kinect, and soon as I saw it.. I stopped mid song.. and couldn't get started again... I just kept staring at the window where it was (on the inside of the glass)... Until it went onto the screen, then I closed my window, and left it shut for almost a week til i was sure it was gone, heh.

Anyways.. Yeah.. I had much the same thoughts when I saw that most of the challenge tames were spiders Then I found Solix They're stylized enough it's not too bad (the leggy ones I can't stand.. I'm almost as afraid of them as real spiders..) plus she's ORANGE! haha. So I've been using my Pydar non-stop since getting her So I totally know how you feel about having the fear.. but also the "must has!!", heh.

Congrats on your tames. And I know what it's like to be hit with strings of good luck That's how I got most of my rares Even the one I ended up camping came around because of dumb luck (zoned in when Solix spawned and someone announced it.. failed tame.. but I knew when she was gonna spawn now! So took the day to do housework while waiting, heh). It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy when everything just.. happens!

Oh god, that's totally how I am. Spiders terrify me, but I'm fine with other bugs for the most part. I can pick up roly polies and stuff, but if I see a spider, my brain shuts down. D': When I was younger, I saw this GIANT spider in my grandma's house, and freaked out. Seriously, it was HUUUUUUUGE. Way, way, way bigger than a quarter. I jumped up on a chair and had to beg her to kill it. It almost escaped into an air vent. D:

And you're right, the new spiders don't really look too spidery too me. I hate the creepy black widow types from places like Duskwood, and it used to creep me out so bad when I'd see other hunters with them. But with Deth, he's so cute and I like watching his little feeler thingies. xD I wish all spiders were like that. >.>

That's actually how I got most of my rares too! I always swear I'm going to camp them, and then once I give up and decide to casually go look, they're right there waiting for me. o_o The only pets I seriously camped for were Loque, Terrorpene, and Sambas. I refused to stop camping Loque until I got him since I wanted him so badly. With Sambas, I camped for a couple months before finally giving up. Then a couple days after 4.2, I thought I might as well look, and there he was just sitting under a tree. Then I camped for Terrorpene, and didn't get lucky until I decided to log on to do a quick search before going to bed, and he was just wandering around in the lava. =O

I've had crazy luck since 4.2 came out. Since the patch I've gotten Sambas, Magria, Ankha, Terrorpene, Ban'thalos, Deth'tilac, Ghostcrawler, Karoma, and Skoll. Before that, I only had a few, and now my stable is almost full. xD

Wow. You had a night like mine. I think yesterday was Blizz's bday present to all hunters or something. I helped my friend tame Deth'tilac (I had Deth already), I myself tamed Ankha and Ban'thalos within two hours of each other, and people were spamming all over that Skarr or Karkin and Kirix were up all throughout doing the dailies on my alts. Strangely, Skitter and Anthriss either didn't spawn or no one wanted them. Solix spawned, but was murdered by alliance prickheads.

Whoa congrats! It must have been some crazy luck day for hunters or something. xD

I know I would never have gotten Deth if I hadn't had help from that other hunter. My fiance was about to come help before he showed up, but then we realized that he hasn't even started his Molten Front stuff yet and wouldn't have been able to get in. xD

I still can't believe no one tried to steal either of those tames from me. I heard so many horror stories, but I've been so lucky. Another hunter showed up while that guy was helping me tame Deth, and I was worried she was going to steal my tame, but she just watched. :3

I kind of figure with all the good luck I've been having, something terrible is going to happen to me when I finally get to tame Skarr to make up for it. o_o

My horde RL friend wouldn't have got Deth if it weren't for my ALLIANCE DK. Factions working together can bring even the mightiest beast to its knees!

Haha, I know! I know a lot of people have had really bad luck with the pets this patch, but I've also heard/seen some awesome things with people working together. :3

I actually helped a human hunter tame Skitterflame a couple days ago. My NPC Scan went off, and I just wanted to go watch, but she was having trouble so I was laying down frost traps when hers would wear off. She screwed up a couple times, and I think at first she thought I was trying to steal it, but after she tamed it, I /cheered and she /hugged and /thanked me, so I guess she figured out I was just trying to help. ^_^

I spammed chains of ice on Deth, effectively keeping him rooted, while my hordie buddy dps'd him. I also threw in a few death coils and frost spells to help dps, along with Death and Decay. Eventually, we got him to 10k, my friend was still dpsing, I was yelling at her in RealID telling her to STOP AND TAME IT, while keeping it rooted with chains, but chains does damage and I didn't want her to lose it, but she eventually listened and came away with her spider. Purple is her fave color.

I'm terrified of spiders, too, and the funny thing is, I named MY Deth Phobia too. Lol. Grats on the two tames!
