I feel kind of horrible about this, but I have to get it off my chest.

I was camping one of the gem pets. I wanted Karkin or Skarr - I think they're both fantastic. So I parked Novi out there. Well, there's been a lot of good, bad and generally rude. At least a couple of Night Elf hunters thought it was kickin' rad to camp Skarr with their Karkins out. A bit annoying, but I just sighed and cleared my cache while using a targeting macro. People came and stacked on me, stealthing thinking it was frightfully clever. I ignored them.

During my wait, I helped a Deth tame with roots. Apparently someone who had been spamming tame beast managed to steal aggro and take the tame. I feel horrible, but apparently this male human hunter has been stealing tames left and right. I'm not sure if he's malicious, stupid or just very young since we told him to stop and he veers from articulate to utterly thoughtless and unresponsive. He was camping for Skarr and/or Karkin alongside me, but I choose the middle spot to see both the north and south spawn points.

Well, the first Skarr I saw I called someone over. I wasn't much help because I was sick and after about 6 tries, another hunter took the Skarr. I was kind of kicking myself because no one but me was over there. The dude who lost out was pretty mad too, but it wasn't like I was going to tell someone NO DO NOT TAME IT. I mean, he had a rez timer. She took her chance and got it. So I sat back to camp later.

I lost out on a couple of spawns while I was asleep and about 12 hours after the last good timer I had, Skarr popped at the northern spawnpoint! I jumped! I knew there were 3 other hunters at the south point. I was really, really torn. I like gem kitty and gem crab. :/ So I swallowed hard and gave it a shot, figuring they'd be over where I was in no time. Nope. I ended up taming Skarr the first try. But I didn't really mention it to anyone because a part of me really feels horrible for taking it knowing others were there who OMFG REALLY wanted it while I was tearing up on whether I wanted Karkin or Skarr. Another part of me was afraid of being chewed out for taking it.

So there it is. My very ambivalent and guilt wrought Skarr tame. I don't even know if I can keep it for as bad as I feel about it. :/

Edit: And I decided to make up for it by helping camp for Skarr for peeps. A few hours in, KARKIN! Out of 5 alliance hunters and an orc, no one was going for him, so I bolted over, almost splattered and tamed me a Karkin! He's SO radical.

dont feel guilty, I mean it not like you tamed it and figured eh Ill tame it for the challenge then release it or ill just tame it for kicks but I hate the skin really (the challenge is all good but if you know people who really want them and are close by.. kinda nice to give them a heads up) but you like him and just wasn't sure which one you wanted. And you did camp for it so enjoy your kitty!

Nothing to be guilty of. You were at the spot he was in. You got there first. You got the tame.

This is similar to how I felt when I got Karkin. Someone announced he was up in general, so I ran over. There were probably at least half a dozen of us there, so I kind of felt bad when it was MY tame that won out. At least I waited until they failed though... unlike others who were competing for the aggro and trying to tame at the same time... But.. still felt a little bad.. (And EXTREMELY shocked when he ran to MY side.. not someone else's...)

I wouldn't feel bad. Also.. no reason you can't have both They're different families, so it's more reasonable than say.. getting multiple spirit beasts, or rainbow spidies

I appreciate the posts. I dunno, I still feel kinda bad. I know at least one of the hunters was REALLY OMFG wanting Skarr. And Karkin is really cool.

Like I told you last night.. if none of them noticed him.. they probably weren't good enough to him

Don't feel bad about it. He's yours free and clear. Congratulations on your tame. After all, I really OMFG wanted Skarr, and I didn't explode when other hunters got him before me. Well...that's not quite true. One occasion of that happening did provoke a small storm of verbal profanity on my part, because I was having trouble with the beast mastery way to do it, and managed to fall off the island I was perching on, ran back frantically, only to see a night elf tame him. I was frustrated. But I congratulated all the lucky hunters that got him and kept trying...mostly thanks to you guys Alliance-side who wouldn't let me give up.

Grats again.

Don't feel bad and just think of it this way. s/he has a good home with you and if you get ride of it that is a major waste and even more rude to the other hunters.

Keep it, love it and don't worry about it.

It is all fair in hunting and taming.

Thanks. I dunno, I just felt kinda icky about it because it was like !? No one noticed?! And really, the universe was giving me a sign dropping Skarr on me a second time I felt. >_>

Yea, no need to feel bad, i nabbed Banny while the hunter i was taking turns camping with was sleeping (gave her the time stamp through mail though). I didnt even have a BM specc for a while after i had tamed Skarr, and shes watched him get tamed twice and killed once

Skarr's kinda the same, but a tad different. I was passing through Molten Front and i was really bored so i decided to park myself at the general Skarr/Karkin spawn point (I already own Karkin, no one around except one hunter who didnt twitch a single bit from his seat for about 10min after i tamed) and when i get up to where Kirix runs around my scanner went off, Skarr!

I figured it was just an annoying jerk but the nameplate was in red! I tamed her and then a fellow hunter who had been waiting for days to see him logged in behind me (i think she was giving Dante company) cause here theres this little dwarf behind me saying 'gratz'...... I felt really bad cause i didnt camp Skarr at all for the past several days before i tamed her and the dwarf logged in just a few minutes too late ._.

try your gem kitty out, hold onto her, when you tame Karkin just switch back and forth with them to see if you like one more then the other or if you like both equally!

That is what happens when hunters get caught napping. It happens. You were better prepared than they were when the moment came.

You didn't tame out of spite; you actually wanted him. You're fine.

Nothing at all for you to feel bad about. And this is coming from a moron who sits and camps for hours and hours and days and days-- had you been there when I was waiting, and YOU were at the spot where he spawned, I would have clapped, cheered and sent grats if we were the same faction. ::

Enjoy him-- I adore the one I tamed, and the ones who are OMFG I NEEEEEEEED SKARRRRR, if they really are that needy, will get their own when the time is right. There are respawns ;D

*counterhugs* I appreciate it! Frankly I don't get why people ALL stack at the south end. :/ One hunter told me she lost Skarr due to falling off, which I guess I can understand.

Ironically, I decided to help with Skarr and ... Karkin spawns. Out of 5 Ally hunters there, NO ONE wanted Karkin. Well, now I have an awesome crab. He's totally kickin' rad. He goes Om nom nom nom.

I use him for my dailies all the time. Excellent lil guy.

Karkin is adorable! He waves and smiles and was an unexpected tame that I adore. I think everyone should have one, if only because how can you say no to a smiling happy crab that will nom people for you when asked? ::
