As far as I know, the Beta is supposed to start in April. At this point it's not very clear if there will be a Friends & Family Alpha, if there is one it hasn't been widely advertised internally.

This could be good news if they fix the loading screen problem that is killing wow for so many players.

What's killing me is how one hour the lag in Daralan or even Northend period is just insane. I get massive fps spikes. I will go do a random and come back it's normal.

Hmm..its tempting to go nuts and yell "FINALLY!" but I'll restrain myself until its actually confirmed.

And yeah the Dalaran lag spikes are crazy. Oddly around 8pm and 9pm server time for me.

I'll confine myself until I get an invite, and then I'll really go wild. *grin*

But I am getting quite excited. I can't wait for April!

So how to people get into the betas? Do they just randomly choose active accounts, or is there an application process?

With WotLK, a friend of mine got a beta invite out of nowhere.

And I had to threaten him with unnecessary violence all the time should he start telling me anything about northrend...

But threatening didn't work...

They actually have a beta sign up around before it happens.

You can sign up now when you log into your Battle.Net account. At some point they seem to randomly select people who sign up that way. For Wrath I bugged all of my developer friends (unfortunately not at Blizzard) until I found someone who knew someone who could get a key. I suspect that that won't work this year, though ...

Yes, I believe you sign up for a chance to get a beta key.

I entered for the WotLK beta when they first released the sign-up, and didn't hear anything for ages (even after tons of people already had their invites). I just assumed I hadn't been lucky enough to get one, and suddenly I have an email saying that I have a beta key. I spent a good hour trying to deduce if it was a scam or not. In the end it turned out to be real though, and I loved it. I didn't spoil myself by doing quests, but I did copy a 'test' hunter over so I could try out Devilsaurs and Core Hounds, and also fly around Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord to take in the scenery. ^_^ I was awe struck at how beautiful the environments were, and that was enough for me.

This, pretty much. I'm on an "I'll believe it when I see it"-basis with Blizz. (Which totally does NOT mean I don't respect them taking the time they take. I think it's awesome that they don't release things until they feel they can defend the product!)

Yeah, I should be over the moon, but I'm going to wait for a little more confirmation before I get too excited... Don't know how much my little heart can take.

But this means we should be seeing female worgen very soon. Excited!

But, eh. When Blizzard announces it, then I shall be a happy little puppy. I'll be even happier if I get myself an invite. <3
