This one was actually the funnest Tames I've ever done. The constant snaring and sending my friends pet to his death and keep kiting was fun. I actually died RIGHT AFTER the tame went off hahaha. I got to keep it. :-D

Thanks to Katzbalger@ArthasUS-Horde for saccing your pet so many times. I'll get ya back later for it. :-D (I'll FC some Rateds for ya and get ya up a few rankings;-) )

Deth'tilac is awesome! I use him as much as I can. Cyric (my Deth) is my mainstay raid pet and my dungeon/dailies pet. He's so pretty and just kicks ass. Taming him was epic for me, too, cuz I tamed him without knowing stuff dying drops his health and it was just me and a lock dpsing him down so it took 45 mins for me to get my awesome purple spider. <3 Cyric (Deth!) forever. I'll love him just cuz he was such a long, hard tame!

Also, fighting in Valhalla is not a good idea of an afterlife! Ragnarok, bring it on!

I'd rather fight for an eternity in Valhalla while drinking so much Mead my very soul is inebriated with the fermentation of Honey than to serve Loki in the depts of Utgard!

Apparently SO! Well, on my Hunter anyway! My War is almost 1900, you're like 150pts higher!

I will serve Loki forever!

.....though at the moment Loki is Kirix, and he's serving me. Haha. Actually, he's kind of enshrined in my stables atm. Letting others bask in his glory, and all. Deth is out being death. Haha.

Haha. Oi, fair warning to you my new found friend. If you're a serious believer much like myself in the Pagan Gods of Old you should know that Loki's followers tend to die a most troublesome death and are usually discarded once their worth is of no use.

I actually DO revere the pagan gods and Loki has long been my god of choice. Mythology gets a lot wrong and depending on the stories, he's either an evil dick who does just what you said and discards his followers or rewards them and protects them for faithful service. His name means "lucky" and he hasn't let me down yet. I wear a Loki charm pendant even though I'm a man and its gotten me quite a few lucky things, so Loki is indeed lucky. Hehe. But we're not talking about religion, we're talking about hunter pets! Deth in particular.

I'm currently camping Deth a THIRD time today. Hopefully I get "lucky" and no one steals the tame from under my nose this time like the last. I was on my DK, ready to sacc my ghoul and myself to drop his health for an alliance friend, but he didn't spawn before the ally had to log off.

Question, to those who know, does army of the dead affect Deth at all? Will it kill him? Just annoy him? What?

I found that snake trap didn't do anything to him at all. He couldn't get the deth'strike cast off before they died. The only thing that seemed to work was my friend's pet.

Also. I have the Odal(Othala) rune Tattooed on the inner part of my right forearm, the Horn Triskel on the Left and Valknut (my ava) on my Right Tricept. My EX, when we were together got me an Elder Futhark Rune Circle wrapped around the Valknut as a pendant a few months back. :-D I love that thing.

I don't tattoo at all, but have a few piercings, otherwise they would be norse in nature. Likely Kenaz, the rune of knowledge and creativity, amongst other things.

Oh, I also have a Loki altar in my closet, surrounded by candles and other things I think he would enjoy. Got about three expensive statues of him, the best one used on my altar. The largest is my favorite decoration piece. I need to take pics and post them in the pic section. Haha.

I figure tattoos are one of the most ultimate forms of respect and admiration for your gods. I'm permanently marked with Runes and Knots that show my dedication. Everyone who walks by me sees them.

OT: I think I might try to re-tame Deth but do it solo and see if I can doing the kite method while sacrificing/reviving my pet.

That method seriously takes FOREVER. He has a ton of health and if you don't have help, you'll be there for ages! Deth evaded on me three times during this process, only making it take longer because I realized he evades if you kite him too far from his spawn point, so be aware of that.

I think treants work from a moonkin though. She ate mine when I sacrificed them to help a hunter out.

I figure, I could do it tho. I let Solix die because he got too far away as I was kiting him. lol. I'd like to put that skill to some test.

The Revive-Pet, part is gonna be the bitch tho.

Thats cheating. You really want to test the might of Thor by cheating using pet sacrifices? I literally had no pet out and dps'd him until he was down to tamable health (thankfully with a lock's help, so not alone, but no pet saccs). You run and kite and dps. And hope the Mighy Thor can hold his own against a spider. ;)

That's the way that I tamed him, solo, kiting while sacrificing and reviving my pet. Tauren DK jumped in and ate a Deth Strike so that was one extra death to lower his health. He's really not too hard, I did the kite with my MM spec, full points in posthaste and concussive barrage, kiting him back and forth and disengaging through him so I could stay behind the spire. To revive your pet just make sure to throw a frost trap in front of him, hit him with a concussive shot, maybe disengage to get more distance and then revive your pet.

PFFT. Just be glad it's not legal to perform Blot Sacrifices good sir. ;-) Thor would feast in my honor at my feat. Plus, Odin would have more Warriors in Valhalla. Gungnir isn't gonna throw itself. Ya know?

I had my druid use roots to help someone. Although for someone's tame, we just used a lot of naked Alliance. Apparently this works too.

As often, Cracked gets the germ of something right and the details rather wrong. Almost everything that's known about the Norse religions was written down by non-believers — because the actual believers wrote very little down that survived. The Icelandic writer who recorded most of what survives was, yes, a Christian, and writing some time after (at least publicly acknowledged) worship of the old Gods had ceased. He was writing down the oral traditions of his people, lest they be lost, and because he believed, even though he was a Christian, that there were things of value there to be remembered. As a Christian, he did not believe old-time stories of Gods were literal truth; however, he believed that there was historical truth recorded in them; by viewing the oral traditions as being inflated tales of heroes of old, he managed to justify an interest in them despite his Christianity.

Serious Norse believers of today know that they're working from a very poor historical record. Unfortunately, Christianity (and other converter religions) have quite the history of deliberately erasing details of what preceded it. Sturluson isn't the only source, however; the Romans recorded observations of Germanic religious practice (from an outsider's point of view, naturally), some things were written down at the time (gravestone inscriptions being one), and in some rural areas some folk-magic belief survived until the nineteenth century or so, which was recorded by early folklorists.

It's worthy of note that it's likely that none of the records of Jesus' life were written by anyone alive at the time, either. The history of religious practice is very, very badly recorded indeed; in fact, a lot of history is.

(Please note, I take no offence; I'm just a pedant! And Freyja's.)
