What is Spirit beast weren't a family?

Like the topic says, would you guys have liked it if Spirit Beast weren't a family and instead each was just a BM only skin from their specific skin-family.
IE: Acturis would be tenacity like bears, Skoll same as wolves, Loque same as cats - each with the healing ability. I'd love that, it would be one hell of a team.

I would think it would be really neat-but then they would be just too much I think.
Articus for example would have Roar of Courage, Spirit Mend, Spirit Walk and then Bear's Tenacity Tree, (thus the Thunderstomp ability) and Demoralizing roar?
That would be like having a Druid as a pet. Yeah he can do everything, tank and hold off enemies, buff your attack and strength AND heal you?
Nobody would use anything else but Spirit Beasts, and as much as I like mine, I like my other pets too!
No, I wouldn't like this at all. It would make the SB 'super pets' and getting them now is hard enough. I'd hate to see how many people would have to have one if something like this went through.

I think Heleos meant to replace the ROC with the family special, and then have the Spirit Mend as the bonus, rather then Keep ROC AND the family special and SM.

Except that pets don't work that way.
All cats have the exact same type and abilities - Claw, Roar of Courage, and Prowl. All wolves have the exact same type and abilities, etc. If you changed Arcturis, for example, to a "shiny bear," saying "oh, he'll just lose Roar of Courage and pick up Demoralizing Roar"...no, he wouldn't. A Bear is not a Spirit Beast. A Spirit Beast is a Spirit Beast. It would end up being a coding nightmare, and would probably end up with one single creature being "the best pet" again...and we're right back in the "Bring a wolf/devilsaur or GTFO" days again.
Blizzard designed the pet families the way they are now for a reason...so hunters could help cover missing buffs, and so that no one pet would become the be-all, end-all of petdom.
There are certain pets that need some ability adjustments (Rhino, I'm looking at you)...but on the whole, pet families and abilities are nicely worked out right now. We have variety in what we bring to work with. We have a choice. We've never really had that before in the history of WoW.

I still think Spirit beasts should have ''Spirit Strike'' as their basic attack instead ''Claw'' (Of course they would need to make some adjusts to the damage and what not, but would be amazing)

If we could change the Spirit Beast to its original family, that would be cool. Or, simply allow Spirit Beasts to choose their spec with each pet talent swap. Tenacity with a self heal? I'LL TAKE TWO.

I like that spirit beasts are not only rare but also are their own family with its own special skill - to me at least something that cool should be different in more than just appearance.
Also from a technical standpoint, it's a lot more organized (and I suspect, easier to code) to restrict by family than by specific model, so that would likely be problematic.

The weird thing with Spirit Beasts is that they all have cat sounds (due to Loque being the first, I think?) -- it's odd to have an owl make those noises!

Well, if Spirit Strike did initial damage, then 3 ticks, and did the damage of 4 Claws and the dot lasted however long it takes to do 4 Claws (or very close), I don't see why that'd be bad. Hard to code though, I bet.

I think it's due to them inheriting Roar of Courage from the cat family - the skill itself is programmed to make a cat roar because it was originally a cat skill. The pets themselves still make the noises of their respective critters(Ban chirps, Skoll makes Northrend worg snarlsnuffles, Karoma barks, Gondria makes the cat growl, etc.) when you send them in as well as when they attack, but it can be hard to hear if they cast Roar just as they're taking off.
I think it's strange as well, but I've grown to like it. Nothing quite like a roaring crab. :P

I think it the only "needed" change would be to just change the name /icon/sound of Spirit Beasts "Roar of Courage" and name it something like "Spiritual Infusion", the ability would be the same but would just feel more fitting just like "Prowl" and "Spirit Walk" (and many other pet abilities shared between different families) while having different names are basically the same.

I know it's impossible, but in terms of "what if" I think it'll be great.
