Hiya Slappy! <3 It's actually a lot of your suggestions, so I guess I'll hit them one by one...


A.) Escalating rivalry between forumgoers.
I don't think it's escalating so much as festering away in the back of everyone's hearts. People are reluctant to let go of old grudges and there are the occasional passive-aggressive jabs at people. I can't force everyone to let bad blood go, but I'd like to work on it.

B.) Bloodthirsty forum trolls (and I don't mean the Gurubashi type).
Not really this one - we're pretty good about snipping out trolls(even if I fall for bait and defend them). ;P

C.) Opinionated threads turning into flame wars.
This is a big one. I don't really think it's as bad as flame warring, but passionate debates have a very strong 'personal argument' flavor sometimes.

D.) Everyone's fighting to the death for the last slice of cake on the forums.
It's mine.

We are actively working to improve things, though, now that we realize that the community as a whole can turn this around if we work at it. I'd stick around and see what comes out. ;)

It's mainly how people treat each other here.

Nubs has hit it right on the head! I'd like to add that a lot of the problems seem to have magically stemmed from topics about the 4.2 rares. :1 Actually, some of these problems started in the 4.2 forum, before the patch was even live!

We are taking steps to fix all this, however. Hopefully we can fix these horrid problems and go back to being a happy little community who bands together against silly trolls (not the playable kind!). Maybe then a few people will come back.

For now, all we can do is go out of our way to get along and whatnot. I'd love to see this place go back to how it was when I joined (plus a couple hundred people, of course)!

I'm not on here much anymore either (just not on the computer in general, honestly), so I think I've missed quite a bit, too. Hrms. So, it's okay Slappy (can I call you that?), you're not alone.

I did like the Dante thing. I'm just someone who reads around here a lot but doesn't post so much, but I hope it will be a place that everyone enjoys again in the future. This forum always made me not feel stupid for chasing rares and taming/rehoming creatures rather than doing 'useful' stuff like....running dungeons and gathering mats and such... I found likeminded crazy people

Nope it wasnt RP drama.

I believe I said this earlier, but a lot of people seem to be leaving due to passionate discussions (read: fights) about all sorts of controversial issues, most of which seem to be located in the many different threads about being griefed. That's why, at the suggestion of others and myself, the Consolation Corner was made-- to try and cut back on all those things and consolidate them into one topic that people can easily avoid if they don't want to see it and where those fights will not be allowed to take place.

Sorry Slappy, I was only joking about leaving - I thought the names of the TV Tropes links would make it obvious. :) I'd never leave.

Nubs;; I thought the TV tropes made it obvious, too! That and the fact that it read so similarly to a modern Jonathan Swift.(;

I think its more people have been frustrated to the brink with whats going on to them in game, and its become over heated over things that normally wouldnt cause that much grief. I mean before if you said you killed Madexx for xp or something a few people would be a little upset but not as much as it is to people now with the 4.2 rares. And its just because of the amount of grief that this patch has brought out really. I mean think of it come cata when Madexx, Karoma, Sambas, GC etc came out there was the odd Madexx shouldnt have so many colors, or why kill the brown madexx?! but basically everyday you saw atleast one post about someone getting griefed. And a ton of posts in the consolation post so people are extremely more senstitive to certain topics and bad days are bad days and fights start. And old wounds reopen.

And instead of letting things go people hold onto it and basically some people go around almost picking fights. Or insulting someones opinion (seems to be more about killing rares or not killing rares). Its really horrible whats been going on in game with people but I am hoping that the hunter community can band together through this then be torn apart from it. I think its more important now more then ever that we do.

Well after reading this thread, i have now been filled in on whats happening, i find this deeply saddening that people feel they must leave the forums. I mean.. really these grudges against others killing rares and what not the chances are they'll be on different servers so it wouldnt affect them at all. I don't understand why there would/should be so much hate :<

@ Twilightsky: drama. pure and simple.

why else post a "goodbye" thread if it's just to complain about the forum?

the few people who have "left" did so with a "grand exit" slamming the door and making as much commotion out of their departure as possible.

Anyone who starts a "goodbye" thread with: "I don't want to create any drama, but..." is only out for one thing: drama.
