Taming Etiquette Question (MF Rare - Karkin)

Hi guys! I have a question for you all. But before I ask, here's what went down:

I was doing my dailies in the Molten Front, and noticed Karkin was up. /G'd and /1'd, no one responded, so I thought, "Well...why not?". So I get to Karkin, I start taming, missing my Silencing Shot, die. Okay, no biggie. Run back, hop back, then run the rest of the way. Try him again, die...again. So I decided to start up on the rest of my dailies. I get back to Karkin, he's still up, all silvery and molten-like, and a Night Elf gets there at about the same time. I back off, signalling that she has priority, as I've already tried for him.

She, too, dies. I decide, 'Well, let's try this again', and start taming him. I get him tamed as soon as she retrieves her body, and stealths into some Earthroot Herbouflage (which, if I must say, is an awesome spell, I love it!). I finally get off the rocks, with a very quick /spit on me from her. I wanted to explain, but unfortunately /e "your text here" doesn't do much cross faction.

Now, the question:

Was I in the wrong because I didn't give her another shot? Was she in the wrong because she didn't know about my past attempts? Or were we both in the wrong?

I'm confused, and I feel bad that my tame was successful and hers wasn't.

No you were not. You gave her a turn. She failed. Your turn since she died.

Taking turns is never wrong. They teach you to do this in pre-k.

Once any hunter fails at a tame, it's free game pretty much.
I'd say that's regardless of how many times anyone has been trying.

Awesome, thanks so much for some outside opinions, guys. I appreciate it.

And, don't get me wrong, I know that it's just a bunch of pixels making up a fantasy world, and that, as much as you think you're a special snowflake, you're really not, it still hurts when you see something taken from you if you've been waiting for it for weeks. Loque'nahak, anyone?

Yeah it sucks. But in Loque's case, that was usually stealing. Karkin's case wasnt a steal.

You're 100% in the right. Regardless of how many attempts you had beforehand, you waited until she finished her attempt completely (aka she either would be successful or died) and didn't interfere. You had every right to attempt the tame yourself.

I imagine the reason she /spit may have just been pure ol' factional differences. Not all players take their faction 'winning' something gracefully; even if that something is a pet. XD

No, you were not in the wrong. Much like playing Mario, she lost her little man and then it was your turn. You made it. Nothing to feel bad about. She shouldn't have spit on you since you gave her a chance - which is a lot more than many would give out there.

^That.

You gave her a turn, and then when she failed, tried it yourself. I doubt it has anything to do with being different factions either. Most likely she wanted the crab as well, was upset that she failed what is really a damned simple tame if you know what you are doing, and took it out on you. Besides, she had plenty of time before you got back up there-heck you did all your dailies and then came back and he was still up. If she was desperate to get him, she most likely would have been camping him.

I /glare at other hunters/players when I'm irritated with them, but it is all just a game. You shouldn't take it too seriously.

Congrats on your crab! I tamed mine more to learn the mechanics for Skarr then out of a strong desire to have Karkin himself...but that damned sparkly crab grows on a person really fast. I've gotten more then a little attached to my Charybdis.
