Blizzard just trademarked a very interesting "Mists of Pandaria". I wonder what that title is for ? Patch or possible expansion ?

I would be thrilled to see Pandaria make an appearance in game. WoW has nearly every type of real-world environment mimicked, yet I've always wished there was a mountainous Asian region.

If this IS... true, I'm actually leaning towards Warcraft IV rather than a WOW exp. But really, I'm still a little uncertain about its direction in the 1st place.

I would love this to be the next expansion. But the cynic in me makes me wonder if this is a deliberate ruse leading up to Blizzcon (not the first time we've been misled about Pandaren), or if it's intended for something other than a WoW expansion. I got the impression that Pandaria was just an island, which wouldn't suggest enough room for a whole expansion. On the other hand, if nobody has seen it then it could be Northrend-sized for all we know ;) Even if it's small I guess it could also serve as the staging ground for adventures to other islands or off-world. I'm crossing my fingers anyway.

I would love for the pandaren race to be brought in as a patch, i also think they are just too small to be a whole xpac, and i definitely dont want them to be playable race because of the nature blizz gave them. They arent like etherals who take sides against eachother out of greed, they are a neutral faction that has close ties to both orcs (in-game lore here from the chens keg quest) and dwarves since both love to drink and brew alchohol so they can drink even more lol

It's a TCG from what I'm hearing. So...sorry guys. It's nothing ingame.

From what MMO-Champ says, the coding used in the license is used specifically for Blizz's online game licenses. And I don't think TCGs/iPhone Games require computer gaming software. ;)

I'm skeptical, but MMO-Champ had it going on with the Cata predictions, so...

Id think if it was TCG related they would come out with things a little more related to Pandarens for the loot cards

Come to think of it, the name doesn't really fall in line with the other 3 expansions. Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm. Mists of Pandaria doesn't really go with the war themed expansion titles.

I could see it maybe, seeing as we're going to have to replant a whole lot of forests once we get rid of Deathwing, lol.

An Asian-like, misty, mountainous place in WoW would be... amazing and I'd love to see it.

But.. I'm not sure this is going to be in game.

/sad

wait... ok lets say this is the next expansion.....ARE THERE FEMALE PANDARIN? I've never seen or heard of one.

Secondly... if pandas were a playable/killable race at all it would kill their sales in china.

EDIT: If they are a playable race.... I demand a huge battle between the horde and alliance for them IT MUST BE DONE!

"Update - For the record, the international codes 009 and 041 only seems to appear on Blizzard's online games trademarks. This isn't a book or anything like that. It appears incredibly likely based on previous trademarks obtained by Blizzard that this is the next expansion."

I've been predicting a Pandaren expansion for a long time, despite the everpresent naysayers.

Vindication on the horizon... :headbang:

Well kaellan no it's not a mobile phone app as one of those would not require computer game disc or computer game software. Though it could still be a smoke screen if not...IM PLAYING A PANDA HUNTER GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT!... (yes this time I'm going to jump on the band wagon and I am ashamed, but I mean come on PANDA!)

this recurring myth about the Chinese "law" against showing pandas being killed is SO tenacious.
there is no law of this nature.
there ARE Chinese-made games where you can play a Panda character, and pandas DO get killed in those games.

it's just some sort of unkillable urban legend.
absolutely nothing stops Blizzard from making the Pandaren race playable in WoW.

I think - think - that this all started when they displayed Pandaren wearing Japanese samurai garb in WC3.

Most probably already know this, but pandas are the national Chinese animal, and China / Japan have a lot of bad blood between them in the past, so... yeah.

But that was just a one time faux pas; I think it was reason enough for Blizzard to back off from Pandaren initially, but I suspect the hatchet has been buried by now (the minipet and the ltd edition Pandaren sculpture (with traditional Chinese garb, ofc) were probably weather baloons...)

My speculation anyway.

I think they should add Pandaren as a race. Get to level 10 or 20 (or something of the sort) and choose whether you want to be Alliance or Horde. One per realm ;)
