Gallery of My Hunter's Pets with their Namesakes

Feel a bit odd posting this, since I’m not one of the big-time posters, but had a lot of fun with this project this week so thought why not! Kudos to all my friends that indulged me this week, by posing for screenshots, hope you enjoy and thanks for looking! ~ Obi

Aozora – Named after one of my best friends in game. Though a good chance my Aozora will be released to the wild once Chromaggus is fixed. It’s okay though I have another critter named after her as well. But I wanted a shaman name for my Core Hound.
In-Game Name: The Kurken

Bàhlà – My latest named for a friend pet. I had recently tamed the spider and had yet to figure out a name when Bahla asked help with the Gang War achievement (Win a duel in Sethria's Roost while on the quest "The Protectors of Hyjal.") Right after he got it and I was low on health a nearby giant threw a boulder on me finishing the job. So I gave my new pet Bahla’s name. At the time that totally made sense to me. But it works with Bahla being a rogue and spiders doing that poison thing and stuff!

Bob – The name Bob has some personal history with me going back 20 years or longer. If I ever needed a name for any person or inanimate object it would be “Bob”. Driving down the highway and my son would point at a billboard and ask the name of the guy (or gal) on it, it would be Bob. I’ve had computers named Bob, my entire family knows of this quirk. Last year my Mother-in-Law gave me a Christmas ornament that is simply the name “Bob” with a Santa hat. I love it! In WoW all my non-combat pets are named “Bob” … I have over 150 Bobs on Obito! So of course I would have to have a pet named Bob on Obito’s roster, though it has changed over the years this is my current “Bob”.

Cãrn – Named after Carnelian stopped playing, picked the Devlisaur as the pet because of Carn’s constant companion, Vermillion, was a raptor.

Cat – Yes just “Cat”, back in the day when Cats were THE DPS pet to have, I wanted a model that wasn’t as common so picked the one found in Black Morass. I had every intention of naming him, but kept putting off and then my friend wouldn’t let me name it, he had grown to like Cat. And for years afterwards would ask where he was if I brought a different pet out. So Cat remains in my stable, one of my few non-rares but with a lot of history behind him.

Daishi – Ah the first of my spirit beasts, love his grin on this picture. Named from the lovely lass you see there, who was a dwarf at the time that I picked this one for his namesake.
In-Game Name: Arcturis

EyeÁ – Named for my friend InfestedAdam which we call IA in guild chat because we’re too lazy to type out his full name. I had one of the neat color changing beetles to start with because IA had also changed colors on me and grown shorter (hadn’t always been a goblin). But when they took away the color changing abilities I went and tamed another one that was short and green just like IA. I’ve also heard him referred to as a disco ball because of his bright neon colors and yellow shield.

FawzInPawz – Named after my friend Fawz, one of my many placeholder pets, named after friends take breaks so I can still see their names in my group window. Fawz was my constant companion in WoTK, healing me so made sense to name a healing kitty after him.

Hal – One of three matching spirit beasts so named after the three leaders of Silvermoon. This one being Halduron Brightwing the Ranger General.

Hotaru – My pride and joy, the same dragonhawk I’ve had since level 10, means firefly in Japanese. She could fly and shoot fire so made sense. She is the one I level with every expansion and she is never away from my side even if I can’t use her as often as I’d like.

Joy – Named after one of my best friends! I picked the fox because well she has this “thing” for foxes, if you look at her stable she has every color of fox there is … and people call me weird!

LoGosh – Named for Goldrinn the wolf ancient, also known as Lo'Gosh in Orcish. You know because he’s a wolf and a spirit beast … I put a lot of thought in this one!

Lor – Second of my identical-ish cats named after the trio of elves that lead Silvermoon, this one being after the Regent Lord himself Lor’themar Theron.
In-Game Name: Anhka

Luc – Bitter sweet one here, my first pet I ever named after a character that left the game. Lucios was a priest so made sense to name a healing pet after him. His player passed away after a long battle against ALS, still miss him.

Morgo – My friend Morgo had stopped playing so this was his short, pink replacement in my group window. He is actually my second “Morgo” tamed once Cata came out, and a better fit than my first being that this one in a tanking pet. I’d always thought I’d rename my pets once my friends started playing again but then it just took a life of its own (the whole naming pets after friends) So even though Morgo has returned (YAY!) my Morgo has remained. I picked Pink over the other colors because well I like pink!
In-Game Name: Crimson Shale Spider

Oph – Another one of my pets named for a friend that stopped playing. Oph was a rogue so I thought scorpions would be a good connection, my first Oph was a blue one from the barrens then this rare came along and having two didn’t make sense. Oph’s player has returned, though sadly this sexy rogue has yet to see Cata as he focuses on another toon. Still made him blow the dust off her for this picture!
In-Game Name: Madexx

Pemp – Was well into naming pets after friends, so when I tamed this big guy there was no question he’d be named after my shaman friend Pemphigus. Since Core Hounds have the ability to Blood Lust/Hero.

Primrose – Named after one of my best friends, she’s an enhancement shaman … a.k.a. blender, just like this little spike-filled creature.
In-Game Name: Rip-Blade Ravager

Prìncess – Needed a Silithid, loved the bright blue model of Princess Yauj in AQ40 but totally went the cheater way and tamed the rare in Tanaris instead, and then just named her Prìncess. On the plus side she doesn’t suffer the same bug that other raid bosses do at the moment of keeping you in combat.

Rom – The final of the trio of look-a-like cats named after the leaders of Silvermoon. This one is named after the Grand Magister Rommath.

Rune – Named after a character in a friend’s story. Rune is a Blood Elf Paladin and member of Argent Crusade.

Sally – Named after real life friend, she’s also on the petite side … small and deadly!

Sea – Named after my husband’s warrior. This particular crab may not be a tank like Seaotter but he does a fantastic job of keeping me alive. And being a creature of the ocean thought the name was a good match.

Woodshed – Totally an inside joke between me and a friend and that is all I will say on this subject.

Wrynn – Named from the King of Stormwind. Lion = King of the Jungle ... and well you know ..
