So I have two rats, milly and meryl. My babies, and not as big of camera whores as I want them to be.

And as a baby! D'AWW!

Milly (REALLY hard to get pictures of--she's very hyper-active. Meryl is very slow and lazy)

About to pounce on poor Meryl

About the only good picture I've ever been able to get of her

When I first got her, in the quarantine tank.

And here is Po, my family's chow/samoyed mix who I raised from a pup

Oh my gosh. Your rats are soooooooo cute!!! Rats and cats are going to be the animals I must have until I die. I have a tan dumbo ear rat named Apolo.
And the puppy pics are adorable.

Such sweethearts! I really hate that Alberta has a ban on rats, I've always loved them as pets.

The Trigun names are awesome. :D

I despise it whenever a place bans an animal as a pet. I know why Alberta did it.. but.. ugh. It makes me angry, like how in a lot of places in the USA, you can't own ferrets, because they're afraid they'll get out and kill wildlife/spread rabies. Buh?? Domesticated ferrets are... well. They ...wouldn't last a day in the wild. >_>; Period.

Dream pets i want: a rat, a ball python (i got to play with one at a pet store once, they are so awesome), a cat (preferably tortishell markings cause those are my fav colorings OR an egyptian mau (with a backyard to play in and to keep them safe while they play)... or a sphinx but they're very needy from lack of fur ._.), a ferret, a shiba inu or a corgi, and a bearded lizard

I think Milly and Meryl are absolutely adorable <3 i love watching animals like rats, gerbils, hamsters, mice run around in their cages doing all sorts of tricks and figuring out how stuff works (if they are in a big playplace that is) and im a huge sucker for watching them run in their wheel lol

Po looks suuuuper adorable with his stuffed animal and how he seems to be sleeping almost like a pancake and (im guessing) all four legs dangling on either side of the couch(?), is that also Po in those almost to fairly adult size? I loooooove the pic of him shaved, it looks hilarious and i bet butt scratches are even more enjoyable for him with all that fur outta the way ;D

My babies get to play on my bed, because, outside of sickness, they never use the bathroom outside of their cage (or let me know that they need to go). They help me with my homework every night and also "help" with my drawings. They feel the fingers look too straight, sometimes.

I want a ton of animals. A patagonian cavy, a ferret, chinese crested and italian greyhound, borzoi, all sorts of cats.. Though, the cavy is the only "exotic" I want. I think I might want finches, one day, too.

In the pancake picture, he's laying on my stomach. He looks like a little bearskin rug. <3 And yeah, all those dog pictures are him. He's constantly getting loved on, now that he doesn't have all that darn fur to get all over my clothes. xD

:D Patagonian cavies are perhaps the easiest to care for true exotics there are. Want one, SO BAD.

Also, Borzoi are AMAZING. They're also epic couch potatoes, which makes them even better.

Ha that would totally be me. And my bf wasnt raised around animals so hes uneasy with my cat and rat, but hes going to have to get used to it  . I also may end up getting a fox once I finish college.

I would kill for a fox.... but id feel so bad raising a wild animal, people havent even begun to domesticate foxes for pets i think, and the pic of Po lying on his stomach reminds me of Monorail cat xD or in this case, monorail dog

Yeah Ive deff been doing a lot of research about foxes and Ive got a few years before I make my final decision about getting one though I believe they are working on domesticating them in Russia. Sadly, I live a long way from there lol.

foxes are thee most epic animals in the world to me... i wish they were domesticated a long time ago (this is the fox i want) TT_TT i also forgot to add that i want a Malamute too, they're the domesticated look-a-like to the wolf, my guild master of Wake of Madness on Wyrmrest Accord (US, Horde side) used to own a wolf hybrid, she said that she had to give all her pets up when she moved to a different state but she talked a bit about Malamutes with me once

And lol just saw your mention of Borzoi's being couch potatoes Zhe, that would be AWESOME XD Have a Borzoi and i taking up all the room on a couch just spacing out n watching tv

The foxes domesticated in russia are very expensive, however you can get one of them here in the USA. I do believe there might also be breeders in the USA, but I do not know how legit they are. But if you want a domesticated fox, it will cost you a few grand.

Personally, I'd advocate against a fox. They're very loud, for one thing. And I hear they don't smell that great, either. But if you do go for a fox, I'd say cough up the few grand for a domesticated one instead of grabbing a wild animal like a lot of people do (I see a lot of people having fennec foxes.. v_v...). I guess in this case, money CAN buy guilt-free.

My mother owned a wolf hybrid at one point. It's not a wise decision for all but the most experienced canine caretakers, and it's a big task. Her improper care ended up with her 5 year old kid (me) almost completely blind in one eye because she failed to raise a non-food-aggressive animal.

When you go for exotics, it's always best to go for those who have research behind them for their care, and make sure you're completely up to the challenge. You have to make sure that animal's life is going to be enjoyable, and that everyone else is safe, too. Plus, finding a vet can be a beatch. Like, a fox is a canine, but their inner workings are different, their anesthesia is different, drugs are different. Do the wrong thing, animal easily dies. A vet has to be certified to care for an exotic (most exotic certification classes only go so far as pocket pets (rats, hamsters, ferrets)), and then they also have to be comfortable with that particular species. So yeah. A lot of work to have one of these animals, if you wanna do it the right way.

Sorry for the lecture :x

Lecture is more then welcome to people looking for an exotic pet, the more lecture there is to teach and prepare, the better!!!

I want a skunk too, they're so friggin adorable but problem is they'll tear your furniture up to make nests and like some animals (depending on their attitude/personality, and especially loner ones who dont like other things in their space) become very territorial and would guard their nest ferociously im sure-- not to mention they'd sleep in there for the winter months xP Wolverines would also be awesome but man... as much as id love to have one i know very well how dangerous they are, they can take down a caribou!! A CARIBOU!!! They would also eat you out of house and home, being a huge glutton since they also hibernate xP

Aww! Lovely little ratties, they remind me of my two ferrets, always playing and cuddling together. ^_^
I had thought about having them as pets before, but the bald tail honestly creeps me out x_o
That and I like scales more than fluff. ^^ <3 my lizard/fish zoo.
