Why not make a common spirit beast? it's the only family with out a common beast that you can find just about anywhere. this is just a thought you can call me crazy but i think it'd make the rare spawns seem more rare

I actually agree with that idea, I've thought the same thing before. :) For people who would just like the utility or ability of a Spirit Beast, a common spawn or one with a drastically lowered respawn rate would be nice I think.

http://www.wow-petopia.com/family/bat.html <--- spirit bat = ftw. Maybe make it a dark/vampire bat.. Or.. maybe a "vampire blood elf" whatever those were called.. that maybe got stuck in bat form  - you need to take him out by taming him or killing him. That way bats get love :P

I love this idea! Two thumbs up :D

A spirit raptor would rock my socks and I could totally see spirit raptors inhabiting some little pocket of the Barrens...

I would totally love this idea, perhaps some spirit raptors that roam around the The Great Divide area OR tucked away in the Wailing Caverns. :D

I would have to disagree with this idea. The Sweetness of a spirit beast is its rarity if they make a spirit beast that's a common mob it takes away the cool factor of the Spirit beast class itself. Case in point with the spiders in Molten Front the 2 people want the most are Deth and Solix, Why Cause of how unique they are, now i know if ya just want a spider you can go tame any old spider but the point is having a Pet class that exclusively rare makes the pet class and pet ability more of a awesome thing to have.

If you mean "rare" as in "everyone who is 85 also has this pet" then by all means, you keep thinking that. Having a common variety of a spirit beast wouldn't affect anyone's "Cool Points" or whatever. Spirit Beast 'rares' are pretty much just as common a sight in town as a red raptor. The people who must have a rare variety will go out and tame that rare variety just to say 'Oh yeah, I have a rare.' They wouldn't lose anything unique or awesome to their family just because something other then the unique rares were roaming around, because people will still have to be level 69-70 before they could even tame one and now-a-days it's almost nothing to go out and find at least one Northrend SB roaming around every time you go.

I also didn't tame Deth because she was unique, I tamed her because she was purple.

this class of pet actually makes us hunt we are hunters after all. This class of pet actually makes us hunt it to make it out own. Having 50 million of this class roam around one area is really no different than going to a petting zoo and shooting a deer in a cage.

Ahaha, This isn't the only pet family that both I and others have sat days for. I spent three days looking for Spiteflayer. :>

The pet ability is like a reward to the hunter that took the time to go out and hunt this rare creature and make it there own. As far as a Spiteflayer goes, is not a rare class its classified as a Carrion Bird witch is a common class.

Wow, way to totally miss what I was getting at. I've also already stated that it's almost nothing to get any of the Northrend SBs now that Cata is active. Skoll and Loque seem to be the only two that are hard due to them being more popular. Also, if you want a more exotic class for a hard to get pet that people constantly camp for.........Krush or Nuramoc. There ya go. So no, Spirit beasts aren't the only FAMILY that people spend their time hunting for. It really goes for any rare, period, no matter the family.

This is the only family that is a 'Rare only' family, as you're putting it. No other family is like that and I personally don't see where it would hurt anything about this family to have a few more common mobs aside from all the unique rares, cause like I said, it's not that hard to get one now.

see i think your missing my point Spirit beast is the only rare class people have to acually hunt case all spirit beasts are rare making it a rare class. Krush is a rare spawn but his Class is fairly common cause hes a devilsaur, so yes spirit beasts are the only FAMILY/CLASS that people spend there time hunting and sometimes people do get lucky and find there spirit beast on the first time looking but more times than not they may have to hunt it down for hours and or days. and as far as Northrend spirit beasts being nothing to get, why are there still horror stories of people looking for them?

As long as there are rares there will always be horror stories. People pick on other people hunting these BECAUSE of the rarity and it will continue to be that way for a while until more people start to realize that these set of pets don't drop that nifty bag of gold and a blue item like they did in Wrath. A lot of these horror stories would subside if all these spirit beasts weren't unique rares.

I've got my own personal horror stories and they aren't regarding any spirit beats. I also got your point over a re-read and an edit followed my last post before you replied, but the way you phrased it sounded like this was the ONLY family any hunter anywhere hunted down with vigor and it's not. The only reason they have to be hunted is due to their rarity, not necessarily their abilities. I've seen some people hunt them just to have them just so they can say they have it and nothing more. :/

And right now, I'm too tired to try and get my point across any more then I have, so I'm done with this thread for the night.

people like rare spawns cause they look different and give there pet a unique look. With the spirit beast you get that plus you get a unique ability, if you make it common you lose the uniqueness of that ability

There are people who look to tame a pet for its looks, not just because its rare. If they made a common spirit beast then if people wanted it for looks, they would tame. Blizzard isnt forcing us to tame them, they're giving us models and the chance to decide whether we want to tame or not.

There are 'rare' hunters and there are 'look' hunters, i am a 'look' hunter. I will take the easier, common skin of a model because im only after the looks of it. If the rare happens to be up, i treat it as the common and tame, kill (usually only if i know theres no harm in it like say, if i was to kill the lvl 37 wind serpent Hayoc for the experience boost if i happen to be around its lvl when i see it) or ignore.

I dont camp because its fun, i camp because i want the specific look and the mob im camping happens to be the only one that is using the skin i want at the time (example, if im lvl 74+, im not gonna tame Humar unless im somewhere in mid-kalimdor, i'll be going for the easier skin Pitch because hes up all the time, being a quest target.)

I'm all in for a common Spirit beast I mean to every one who will say "but it makes them common" my WHITE TALLSTRIDER is rarer than any spirit beast! I mean go into a town how many of those do you see compared to a SB?

I'm a bit of both i like pets that look cool but i also like the idea of the ability that gives me a little heal when i dont have any food or anything to replenish my health and i like the idea that i had to hunt and do a little work for that ability.
