I'm sure it's not just me...

My husband and I created new alts today. I have a little gnome warlock, and it's ok and all, but I kinda want a dwarf huntress (he made a dwarf rogue). I just thought it'd be really cool to have a dwarf hunter with one of the lynxes from the blood elf area. But he thinks I'm crazy. "You don't need another hunter," he said.

But, but..... So now I'm stuck deciding whether I really do want yet another hunter (this will be my third) or if I should just stick with the warlock. My main is a hunter, my alt on Nesingwary is a hunter, maybe I should branch out a little and try something else, ya know? But, a dwarf hunter with a lynx is just too tempting.
I have had warlocks before, and have deleted them all. But maybe this time I'll actually like it!...

Well, and at least with a warlock we won't be competing for gear for the first 40 levels. I think I'm just an altoholic, and can't make up my mind. One day I was determined to make a warrior, and a couple days later I was all "Yay warlock!". I flip-flop so much it's sad. I guess I should just stick it out with the warlock for at least a little while longer. Maybe I could give it til level 20 or so, and if I don't like it I can always make my dwarf hunter and catch up (not like it's hard these days).
Thanks for letting me think out loud, lol.

Warlocks are interesting, and I do love mine, but it feels a lot different from playing a hunter. If it makes you feel any better, I have three serious hunters, two serious paladins, a serious warrior, shaman, death knight, druid, rogue, and am currently working on a mage. Srsly.

Problem is it could be a gnome :d
but that said- yeah do try and give Warlocks a go. Affliction is <3- or atleast was before the fear nerf. I don't mind if it was for pvp, but seriously pve too? bleh. The crutch of the fact also lays in that when crap hits the fan you have very few options of what to do. Soul Shatter is weak and has a 3 min CD, and yes I say weak because I've just had it fail miserably or use it, it works. A dot goes off and I've got all aggro again.
Void Walkers imo are still pathetic and only useful for PVP for their changed sacrifice talent. The only good tanking pet is the Felguard :(
So yeah warlocks are alot of get wand, use one dot, use wand, afk at lower levels.

Warlocks are so much fun. I adore mine, though I really should get her past 43 eventually.
That said, there's nothing wrong with having more hunters if that's what you feel like playing. :3 I'll have something like 5 or 6 myself. xD

Haaa!!! ,
I'm the king of alt's, trust me... On several mmorpg's all my friends insist I always played wayyy to many characters. Which in all honesty I usually do.
Roonok was my original level 70 , then level 80. He was a Hunter. I've had level blah, blah everything. My Priest is my only other level 80 that's not a Hunter. He only made 80 because all my buddies always complained there was never a healer around when we needed one. Since I did have a geared up 80 Hunter , until this weekend when my son in the army talked me into transferring him to his account to play, I spec'd my Priest dually as Disp and Holy. That way I could tank heal or group heal. I always find it strange when Pugs marvel that I play a Priest to actually "heal" people lol...
Warlocks are fun to me as well. I've had several. Just never really click with them though. I can get them up to about level 60 and run out of gas on them for some reason. Even Mages kinda work for me awhile. I guess I enjoy ranged DPSer's as a rule. Played a Warrior in Dark Age of Camelot back in 2001 and I'm not a melee person. Style chains, position specific abilities etc, etc. own me...
Plus if I were to play a Warlock to long I'd just summon the Succubus and never get anything done lol... So distracting for men I swear...
EDIT: Yeap, affliction all the way for me too Ryai... In WSG I once got hit by a Rogue , but managed to dot him up and even though I died, the rogue dropped just two steps away from me lol... Love me some dottage...

Felguards aren't that great of tanks... They're almost purely built as a DPS pet. My brother has GREAT use with his VW.

I'm an alt-ahalic too. I have only 1 level 80 character, but I still play several characters. I like my healer, and my shaman. I have 3 hunters, a druid, 2 paladins and a rogue. I find that I swap around to different characters based on what I feel like playing that day. It never hurts to have different alt characters, and you may find you like playing the others. I've been enjoying my priest, and have now gone back to my paladin. I enjoy playing them all, but I sometimes forget which one I'm on and and looking for the wrong icon to push. I also am playing 2 lower level hunters. I just can't seem to stick to one again to try and get up to level 80. Eventually I will get there

My Felguard used to tank five mans for our little guild. The only thing the Voidwalker has up on the felguard is a group taunt and hit points, the felguard is on par or superior in every other department. We just had to focus on one mob at a time, and I had to keep on my toes to make sure aggro didn't come off on our healer. Crowd control helped a lot too. Course this was back in TBC, I don't think I could manage it now, with DPS being through the roof.

This pretty much sums up my warlocks in the past. I get to a certain point and then just fizzle out with them. I don't know why!!! I keep trying to make them and then end up deleting them down the road. My last one had great gear and stuff, and I just didn't feel like playing her anymore. Argh! Well, still, I'll at least try it out and if I still can't click, I'll make something else.

At least there are people with more hunters than me.

I'm the same way with priests. For some reason, I can not make myself play one. I have one of every class over sixty now, EXCEPT a priest. I'll get one to about thirty, and then get bored and wander off.

*cough*
1 Main Ally Hunter
1 Main Horde Hunter
About 10 Hunter alts spread out over 9 servers
Come Cataclysm, I'll have 6 more Hunters all situated on the same server.
There is no such thing as too many hunters, Rhyela...and if there is, I think I'm far past the mark *lol*
But I echo the sentiments of everyone here - a Warlock is a fun class too. Might not have pets per se, but the demons can strike fear into the hearts of many an unsuspecting player in PvP.
And the uber-dottage capability = you may be dead, but you took 'em all down with ya XD!

I have 25 hunters across three accounts.
Yeah, I think you're fine.

I'm not going to say that I'm surprised by that total. Not in the slightest.
You are the loving genius that gave us Petopia AND these wonderful forums in which to profess our loves, hates and general fascinations for the Hunter class itself.
With that said...I'm not that far behind you...and that should honestly worry me but somehow it doesn't.
Now the HUBBY on the other hand...! XD

Hehe, another altoholic here. The toons shown in my signature are just the ones I've gotten past 35 - I have several hunters and druids on different servers and am proud to say that I've played every single class to at least 10: warlock and warrior are the only ones I've never gotten past 20. :P (Although I DO have two (!!) warlocks at level 12-14... XD)

I vote for the dwarf huntress. Not that I'm a little biased there

. And they are awesome with the lynx, or dragon hawk!

Kastarakovski, that is one of my favorite things about warlock PvP. Being dead and in the graveyard, and then getting honor for a kill. It's even more fun when you get to watch them tick across the field! Though I have to say that with PvP being as bursty as it is at eighty, warlocks aren't quite as fun at end game.

I haven't even created her yet (very much thinking I'm going to, even if only for my solo alt

), but I can already see her with a personality very much like Mr. Hemet Nesingwary himself. Though she isn't as much into the killing as she is the taming. I envision her as a wild, rambunctious, spirited young dwarven lass who wants nothing more than to ride into battle atop a rhino, ale in one hand and blunderbuss in the other. Unusual and colorful pets would be right up her alley. Yes, yes yes!!!
