Hello all, I just reached lvl 80 and im all excited. I bought dual spec, Survival (for PvP) and Marksmenship (for Instance/Raid). The only problem is I dont know what pet to get. I have a wolf for Instances which i think is fine but what should I use for PvP? Please give me some suggetions. Also for instances if wolfs dont work.
Thank You! :D

Hyena's are good for PvP as well, thanks to their snare. Serpents can help against healers and casters, nether rays can silence, gorillas can interupt, spiders can root, ravagers can stun, owls can disarm, bats can stun, and that's all thats coming to mind for PvP at the moment. I'll do a bit more research and get back to you.

PvE? Wolves, cats, and raptors. Wolves are considered the best because of their self and hunter buff, while the other two are fair damage dealers for the SV and MM tree's.

This pet guide is actually a really good place to start. For PvP I have used wasps, silithids, hyenas, and carrion birds (keep in mind I'm no hardcore PvPer), and I found the wasps and hyenas to be pretty good. The wasps' sting is just like a druid's faerie fire, in that it prevents stealth (also does nature damage), VERY handy against rogues. Hyenas have the tendon rip ability which is on a fairly short cooldown (only 20 seconds), and does damage + slows by 50% for 6 seconds. Both of those are ferocity pets though so will be a little softer in PvP. But on the flipside, they'll also put out more damage.

As far as raiding goes, I am BM so I can't help you out with MM; though I hear that wolves are the best, followed by cats and raptors. Personally I'm anti-FotM and therefore suggest trying a cat or raptor just to stand out, but that is purely up to you.

Chimae... You're not a BM... Yeah, any of those ^^^ And actually, cats are not that competitive... They haven't hit top three for either specs (at least in my spreadsheets) For a LONG time... =( For my MM spec, I use a Wolf, but because I LOVE my Undead Wolf Lupin, not FotM. But other pets that do well are Raptors(Assuming they get the damage buff every SR, just as a Spreadsheet assumes) Wasps, especially when lacking Faerie Fire or Curse of Weakness, and Moths, who do surprisingly well due to their self buff(much better for a BM, but still)

Oh, I thought cats were still one of those "up-there" pets, shows how much I keep track of all that. XD I just do my best at my own thing.

In my PVP play I like my ravager, hyena, snake and spider (multiple characters). My favorite is ravager as it does a stun that can distrupt casting, and knock or stop the enemy from running specially flag carriers or healers helping. The spider I like for it's web again specially against flag carriers.

The hyena and snake also have abilities that I like in the PVP play, but it is my ravager that I like the most.

Well,

I'm always BM and on my old main I ran either my Crab or Serpent in PvP. Both did surprisingly well. The Crab could take a bit more pounding, but the snake's casts helped a lot on mages and priests...

PvP pets, hmm.

Anything cunning.

Most (if not all) the ferocity pets (IE hyenas, wolves).

Some tenacity pets (IE crabs).

Try them out, see what you like. Stick with it. ;)

I've seen crabs mentioned a couple times in this thread... How do they do in PvP? I've loved crabs for a long time, but I can't say I really care for Pin. Recently rolled a new hunter on a PvP server, a new experience for me, and I'm curious if I could find an excuse to use one.
