Ever get tired of looking at a pet...

...Because you can't evet a city without tripping over 40 of them?
I tamed Skarr shortly after I failed on a Deth tame (Whre's that "Stop Hittin' Yourself" pic someone here made?). I was pretty jazzed, I'd decided not to even try until all the hype wore off, but it was ~4am, no one there, blahblah tamed. He was my shining star, and I loved him.
But then we went to Org. Every hunter I aw was playing with their Skarr too. And now I'm tired of looking at him, so I put him back in the stable. I'm bored with him, and I've had him maybe 10 days. I sure hope I'm not alone in this... Makes me feel guilty for shoving the poor guy into the stables.

Tame a purple Warp Stalker, no one has one of those...(well, I do, but you get it)
But on other circumstances, YOU tamed him. That makes him unique to YOU. So what if every other hunter has one? (Or if you're like me...and forced to tame two because of a loot crazed guild leader...) That Skarr is unique to them, as with yours to you.

As much as I like to say 'my pet is special to me because it's mine' I tend to do something similar when I see pets I don't own. Tripping over 40 Skarrs and 35 Madexxes kind of kills all of my interest in those mobs - even though those 40 Skarrs and 35 Madexxes will be unceremoniously dumped once something shinier comes out, I'd bet.
I've given up completely on the 'rare vs common and what is actually rare now' thing; I just tame whatever I want. Who cares about the contents of my stable besides myself? The day someone kicks me from a dungeon for having Broken Tooth instead of Sambas or Skarr is the day I'll start caring - or, rather, the day I'll stop dungeoning.

I'm not upset about not being unique.
It's like running a dungeon 40 times; the first time it's shiny and cool. But after you've seen it the 4th, 5th time, you're sick of seeing the same mobs and same attack affects.
I'm tired of looking at him; mine, yours, Bob Dole's. It's a skin I'm sick of looking at, I can't stand looking at him even if he's mine. I have another cat (that's also black, unfortunately, and I'm having trouble playing with her too). And that mkes me feel bad.

I actually can agree on that, though. It does get tiring of looking at the same thing (Skarr is pretty rare on my server, along with Karkin, but deth...deth isnt) That's the main reason I rarely use my pretty purple spider anymore.

I'm lucky; I'm on a low population server and the other hunters seem to overall have different taste than I do. The few high profile rares I have stand out to me because they have a strong, specific vibe that indicates to me that they are different from the others. If they felt generic, I would be bothered by it.
I once changed Cerberus, my Kurkin, since I felt our connection was lost when I saw other identical Cerberuses. It didn't take because it wasn't him. Now that I have him back, I appreciate him for his individuality. There are many white Cerberuses out there, but this one is mine.

I agree with you. EVERYONE on my server has Sambas and I got so sick of him that I dumped him - twice. I wanted him back, got sick of him again, and abandoned him. I see the same thing happening to Skarr, but he's my favorite cat in the game so I haven't gotten sick of seeing his skin =P Deth is extremely common too but I love my Charlotte and she (he decided to become a girl for me xDDD) will never leave my stable. But yes, I don't like seeing a million of the same pet every day. Makes me end up disliking them because I see them too much.

My guildie I raid with ONLY uses Sambas. So sick of looking at it. Skarr is a close second.

Sometimes.
But, it's very rare that I find another hunter using any rare pet.
But my stable is filled with rare pets...I can easily swap one out for whatever I feel like using.

I have several rare pets between my hunters. One, in fact, tames only skins that are both rare and unique (but is low level, so his choices thus far are limited).
I suppose that because of all that, I don't really get sick of certain skins. I rotate through them, common and rare both and cheerfully use whichever pet I feel like using.
Sure, I see Sambas a lot, but that doesn't make me like mine any less. The same to be said for Karoma, Loque'nahak and Gondria.
They're mine. I love them. I won't give them up for the world because I remember the work that went into getting them.
And if other people have them, too? They still don't have the same story behind how I tamed mine.

Most my rares have common skins (I just like taming the rare versions just because) but oddly I don't see a lot of common skins in cities, so in a way that makes them feel rare, if that makes sense?

Most of my pets have common skins; I don't see look-alikes very often. Even my three non-spirit beast rares don't seem to be out and about much. Other Loques are what I see the most. I actually usually stop and /pet hunter pets that look the same as mine.

Aww, I hope I never feel that way about a guildie's pet. Besides, I think the most I would feel in that situation is perhaps a smidgen of smugness, as I think someone else's Sambas would just show off my pet to good effect!

Pretty much this. I'm even working on a second hunter for my common skin goodness.

I tend to abandon the pets that I put NO work into, as well. Didn't do any camping whatsoever for Sambas. It took me 2 years to get Loque, no way in hell am I going to care if I see others with him all the time. But I got sick of Sambas pretty fast after seeing him 10 times a day and not even camping him to get him. I ended up not liking his model and his mane bothered me a lot. xD I ended up hating King Krush too because I saw him all the time, didn't camp him, and eventually didn't like the color. Turns out I love the red devilsaur model the most. Even that took more effort to obtain than Krush.

I love the pets in my stables. And yes it is a bit bothersome when I want to walk around with my Loque and someone has theirs out. My solution is to just put mine away for a little bit and take out a different pet. But I don't ever hate my pets more because a lot of people also have them. I love them because I love them.
But I do understand it gets boring to see the same pet with every hunter, I just try not to let it bother me, and pulling out another pet from my stables and rotating between pets usually helps. I like what I like and I can't help it, nor will I force myself to tame something I don't like just to have something different than everyone else. Yes it sucks... but then I wouldn't be happy if I tamed something I didn't like, so it wouldn't really help now would it? So long as I love everything in my stables I could care less what other people tame, even if they tame it in masses.

Pets, especially new and shiny ones, tend to boom in numbers when they first come out. Just wait a little bit for the hype to wear off, people slowly get bored of their "shiny" new pet(s) and eventually pets go back to being the persons prefered looks.
Every time new pets come out, this happens, and eventually it goes back to more veriety as the hype wears off. Warpstalkers where the "big" thing back in BC, and now I very rarely see them. K.Krush, worms, rhino's and Loque cluttered Dalaran during the first bit of wrath. Fire turtles, Shale spiders and new spirit beasts cluttered up SW at the start of Cata, and now Skarr, spiders and Karkin are the "in thing" with firelands.
I'd say if your feeling a bit bummed with your pets look right now, either avoid highly populated areas or stable it for a bit till the hype wears off and pet "diversity" resumes back to normal.

Hahaha I totally feel your pain. Thankfully my "preferred" pets aren't generally commonly seen ones, and while I'd certainly not love them any less if every Tom Dick and Harry had a pet like mine out 24/7, it's so much more interesting to see a bit of variety! One or even two people is cool - if one person has the same pet out as me I'll usually give a /cheer or /wave. But when every corner you turn has a Terrorpene around it...
There's a hunter I know who uses either Sambas or Karoma without fail. All the more to him, that's great, but I enjoy using a variety of pets in raid groups and I wish he did too... eye candy! The only time it annoys me is when I can't use my own cat because he has the str/agi buff covered hehe.

I finally saw another blood elf hunter with a lynx yesterday. She was level 85. See, I KNEW it was typical! *pokes Purci* Just teasing, that's the first time I've seen anyone else with a lynx, let alone a brown one. He was cute, so I /petted him and went about my business.

If everyone else and their mom had the same brown lynx, it would drive me nuts, I admit it. But I love Purcival so much that I could never let him go or toss him in my stables, so in that case I'd probably just cart Boris (if there's one thing I never see, it's a yellow scorpid) around til I was out of the city, and then yank Purci back out again.
Isn't it funny how the "common" skins are the ones you never see? I'm always shocked to see someone using anything other than a "rare". I saw someone the other day with Terokkarantula (must have been, because it was enormous when I first saw it), and another fellow with a black scorpid. Pets like that are just so rare these days. Well, at least during my limited time on this server.

I love when that happens.

I picked up a wind serpent named Pymethe for my Survival spec now that I'm not playing BM anymore, and I was in Stormwind for all of ten minutes before I was getting compliments on him - he's just a plain old red wind serpent. I was doing something with the honor quartermaster yesterday with Blacksting out as well and got a 'woah your wasp's wings are so cool!'. I'm not really big on vying for attention with my pets, but it
is nice to get the occasional compliment or /pet when you don't have Loque/Sambas/Karkin/Skarr/a lava spider.
