Help me name my mastiff

I was questing in the Plaguelands (Jaronn is still low level) and impulsively just had to tame one of the Blighthounds, the tan mastiffs. He just called to me and surprisingly, I'm really enjoying the fellow. I usually don't care for the mastiff/dog model but for some reason he just felt right with Jaronn.
I'm looking for a name that is male, but short and strong perhaps. Something that brings to mine he's a bold, noble sort of companion and guardian.

One name that short of 'spoke' to me was Brego, but I'm not sure why. I don't normally name my pets after movies/books, etc.

Brego is fine, my tiger is named Arod - so you wouldn't be the only one with a horse-name-pet
I thought about Max for your dog. I think something short would be perfect, but Brego is the name that came to your mind, so why not use it?

I named my alt's mastiff Sandor, from the Game of Thrones book.

I finally did just end up naming him Brego. I'm really not sure why, but it just seemed to suit him.

Those names that pop into your head and never leave it again are the best ones, because it is like your pet is telling you "hi there, my name is..."

Yep, I agree. I had a name for my crocolisk (Ivan) but decided to name him something else that I thought maybe sounded cooler (Vladimir), but in my mind I kept calling him Ivan, so I changed it with a certificate. He really wanted to be Ivan instead of Vladimir.
I don't know the book you folks are talking about, but I think Brego is an excellent name for him! It's short but also unique and sounds very dog-like in my opinion. Hope you have lots of fun with Brego!!!

I named mine Shecky, mostly because every time my husband sees one, he'll call out "Shecky!" for some odd reason.
