Vivenna and Lily

Tamed two pets today after once more releasing ones I dislike. A blue dragonhawk I named Lily and Shadowclaw, whom I renamed Vivenna. They're both very pretty pets and I like them much better than the rares I had stabled but never used. Vivenna really does look different than normal black striped cats. She matches my TCG mini-pet really well!

Vivenna is from a book called Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. She's a princess who just happens to be rebellious and runs away to become a rogue-type character. The book isn't mostly about her, though. She is mainly a side character and I fell in love with her name. I disliked her character, but thought her name would be great for a feral-looking cat.

Ok, I have to ask; your pictures are so crip and clear. Is that an in-game setting, or a gentle photoshop touch up?

My settings are on Ultra. I have a custom gaming computer. I use photoshop only to add names to my pictures or edit out names of players, since I don't like posting other peoples' names on a forum without their consent.

To be honest, I SHOULD have photoshopped Lily's picture so she was more visible. She kind of blends in with the lighting in the pic of her. I should have done something with lighting effects.

Ah, I was going to say it looks like a slight raise of brightness/contrast levels. :)

I don't even have real photoshop. Just Elements. And there is no brightness/contrast settings in photoshop. I do have my brightness fairly high in WoW though. I just like my game to look crisp and clear rather than foggy.

I keep my game very bright as well, but screenshots don't save the gamma settings that you use in game, so they're always darker in that regard.

Ah, thats why Lily doesn't look as bright as she did in game. I was wondering why she came out much darker than she actually looks.

Here's a bright photoshop of Lily that I just did. She looks much prettier. Her wings are almost luminous and you can see each little notch in her feathers. I wish they looked that way in game:

Ah, see, just to not strain my PC, I only turn some of the settings to ultra. I love your screen shots if just for the great clarity.

On topic, I like the names. Funny story, but I namedmy beetle Lily, after my fiance's dog.

When I'm doing the challenge tames and a certain area is too dark, I will sometimes add lighting effects so the pet is more visible. I try to make my photos focus more on the pet than other areas of the photo, and there is a photoshop lighting effect that lets you highlight a certain area and I use that effect on some of the pics that would normally be rather dark. I want my pics to look nice.

I love the dragonhawks, they're so pretty.. and their names fit them perfectly.

I also wish that I had a computer as powerful as yours. My poor computer; probably hates me because I force it to run WoW. haha

Congrats!

I had to have mine custom made by my cousin in South Dakota (I live in Missouri). I used to have a computer that had a hard time running WoW at lowest settings. Once I got this custom job, I was shocked to see what my toons REALLY looked like (I regretted making a male worgen, lets just say, but he was already 85 and I didn't want to pay for a race change) and really appreciated all the gorgeous lighting, shadows, and water effects.

Yeah my computer is like that now.. it runs WoW but roughly on lowest settings. I'm currently saving up some money to build one for myself. I wanted to do it a long time ago, I just never got around to it and then life smacked me around a bit, so money became tight. Sometimes I use a friend's computer.. and it generally makes me sick! haha The graphics on ultra high is something I'll definitely have to get used to. But I look forward to it! :P

Its shocking at first, but worth in the end. I also got a high res monitor from my cousin when he built the computer for me. He used to work for the military on their computers, so he can build really GOOD ones and makes a nice load of cash from his military veteran pay, since he was honorably discharged and held a high rank among the tech people. I have no clue what he actually DID, but he just says it involved computers. Apparently its classified. Either way, its well worth the intense graphics and such. Internet was down for me the other day and I had to use my laptop, which is about a year old, and WoW ran mediocre on it. I was depressed by how fuzzy Lily and friends looked and couldn't believe I had played like that for so long.
