The tough choice.

I haven't been posting here as much as I'd like, but perhaps my fellow Petopians remember when my elderly dachshund wandered away from home because she was too blind and old to remember her surroundings properly.
After weighing in our opinions, Mom and I decided to have her euthanized. Her health and sense of awareness had been plummeting after her little adventure, and after every meal she was making horrible coughing sounds. She couldn't go a few inches without bumping into something and sometimes, she'd just stand, confused as to where she was.
She is my Mom's dog and I'll admit it, Pickles hadn't been to the vet in near 6 years. Even if we did know what was wrong with her, Mom wouldn't be able to afford correction procedures, if there were any to be had.
We had Pickles for 15 years and she was a real member of the family. She taught me so much about having a pet, and in turn, is shaping the way I raise and take care of my dachshund, Moxie (who is still a puppy).
Thank you for everything, Pickles. You were a blessing to my family. You will be missed most dearly. I only hope that, wherever you are, you have regained your youth and watch over your family now without suffering.
