I just tried to tame Arcturis and received a warning that he was un-tameable. Why is that, im a level 74 hunter in the Hord on the Venture Co. Am I doing something wrong?

Were you in Beast Master spec? Arcturis is a spirit beast and only tamable by Beast Mastery hunters that are specced into the talent Beast Mastery.

God, this happens so much. They really need a better warning than just saying it can't be tamed

Agreed. It's one of those, "Yay, I finally found the pet I've been looking for!" and going, "WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!?!?!" I had that happen to me once, but it was not a rare spawn just a sithilid I wanted to try out. Never made that mistake again, haha!

No. Arcturis is, as already mentioned, a spirit beast which is a class of exotic only pets. And like I said, to tame these pets, you need to be a BM hunter with the Beast Mastery talent. Exotics are special pets that can only be used by BM hunters.

I did the same exact thing with Jadefang...heh. He just "happened" to spawn at one of the times I was just peeking real quick to see if he was there or not. Sure enough I turn my back and my NPC blares...and I completely panic when it says it wont let me tame him. I'd totally forgot I'd hopped up there in my Marks spec instead of my BM spec. =P

As Tyger said, you cannot use Exotic pets while not in the Beast Mastery spec. I also wanted to point out, in case you weren't sure, that you can still have the pet, you just can't use it. I think I've heard people ask before if the beast would be abandoned or something like that if they weren't in BM spec.

So, keep? Yes. Use? No.
