Information:
I've been talking with a few hunter friends who have been slightly upset with having to get Silencing Shot in the Marksman talent tree.
A lot of them were unaware that you're able to "abuse" the Convalescence of Winds buff for both of the places that Skarr can spawn in.

I made a few screenshots and brief description on how to tame him at his spawnpoint closest to Kirix, using the Convalescence of Winds buff.
I posted this on wowhead as well, but seeing as it's the very last comment on Skarr, I'm not sure how many would actually see it.

Taming of Skarr:

Step one: Go to this platform and jump up to the island in front of you in order to receive the buff.


Step two: You're going to jump back to the platform that you were standing on just a few moments ago. You will have to stand still where I am standing in the screenshot, and then jump without moving forward.


Step three: Once standing on the platform you should stand exactly where I am in the screenshot, and face the same direction. You have to make sure that you have the Convalescence of Winds buff and don't have the Thermal Wind buff. If everything checks out, then stand still and jump.


Step four: When you're standing on the platform that you just landed on, then go stand where I'm standing in the screenshot. The buff will disappear if you go one platform lower. You will have a clear line of sight to Skarr when standing here. You may want to keep in mind that the cast bar might be off. I have tried this 4 times now, and each time the tame was successful even tho the casting stopped halfway.


Step five: Bask in your new pets glory.

Eee, when I saw the troll with pink hair, same wep and cloak I was like "HOW DID YOU GET SCREENSHOTS OF ME?" Great guide though, I never knew how to hold onto the buff ^^

This is very easy if Skarr/Karkin spawn at the floating rock that's accessible from the island. I actually think there MIGHT be 2 gusts that give the winds buff (I see everyone mentioning using that one, but I had the OTHER one when I got both my Skarr AND Karkin). All you do is jump up and reach the island through the wind, and then tame from the larger island (for that one spot, it's also the only spot I ever saw them spawn, heh)

That's true, personally I've never seen Skarr spawn at the other platform though. To date I've seen Skarr spawn 6 or 7 times at the platform closest to Kirix, and Karkin 2 times at the other platform. They seem to hang onto their very own platforms when I'm around. ^^

Note: I would have included Karkin in the original post, but I'm one of the people who wants to try something before spreading it onwards. I haven't had the pleasure to see Karkin spawn at that platform yet, so I have been unable to try it, sorry.

That's an old vid version I did if anyone is interested, it's old but I think it's the same method You can easily get to both platforms while keeping the buff, just practice beforehand. Easiest if you've unlocked the Druids and have the quests so they'll fly you around if you fall

Nice video, Acherontia! It uses the same method but displays the other spawn spot. Which is perfect seeing as I haven't had the time to do that myself just yet.
