Anyone else notice this?

In every odd numbered WoW version...there was a race of intellegent insect/bug creatures to fight against.

1.0: Silithid and Qiraji

3.0: Nerubians

5.0: Mantids

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Mantid and the Sha are related to N'Zoth, the newest Old God we've yet to face. All of the insectoid races we've seen so far are offshoots of the Aqir and have a tendency towards Old God worship.

I think the fact that they're all on odd numbered versions is a coincidence, but who knows. :D

I wonder if they'll actually implement the Mantids as a Aqir descendant, or if they'll be left as a standalone race.

A quote from WoWwiki: Some speculate that Nerubians are the avatars of an unseen emperor, similar to how the qiraji are avatars of C'Thun.

One theory is that the silithid and aqir are in fact one and the same, and C'Thun directly created the qiraji from the aqir. But despite evidence to support it, the latter is often dismissed due to an argument of intelligence and its controversy.

Another is that the avatars C'Thun created from the silithid were the aqir, with the qiraji and nerubians later splitting off and evolving differently.

Neither have yet to be confirmed by Blizzard and are both merely speculative histories for the races.

/Unquote

Ive done research on them a while ago and its speculated C'thun created avatars in his likeness from silithid that lived within range of the Well of Eternity /quote: C'Thun created his avatars in his own image from the silithid (Who came from near the Well of Eternity). /unquote

I wouldnt be surprised but would love (even tho i hate bugs, i love the lore behind the aqir and its subforms), if the mantis creatures were a race of qiraji that were seperated on pandaria when the sundering tore the lands apart ^_^ But alas we dont know yet but i would kill for that to happen XD

Well the Aqir after looseing in the war of 3 empires split into two groups one becomeing the Qiraji and the other the Nerubians. Some could of got stuck on that island but I dunno. Personally I'd like them to be realted as I like both the Qiraji and Nerubians but I'd not be shocked of they where not related at all.

Aqir, Silithids, Quiraji, Nerubians -- call them whatever you want. They're all Zerg to me! :D
