Currently, I have my eye on some rare raid drops mounts (Ashes, Onyxian Drake, Blue Drake, etc) and also the Reins of Poseidus and the Vial of Sands. However, I have run into a road block regarding most of them. My guild is little and often does not have enough people online to raid (luckily I usually get together the 3-4 for Onyxia), so I have to PuG raid the others, and to make sure I get the mount I need to offer a gold incentive. However, mounts like Ashes have a massive perceived value (like 50k or more) and the Vial and the Reins also sell for similar high prices.

I am horribly slow at making money on WoW, so my real question is, how can I make enough to afford these epic mounts ? Has anyone done grinds for this ? Does anyone have any tips for me ?

If you do Kara, it is terribly easy to two man, even solo. My guild 5m TK before (Druid, Hunter, warrior, rogue, mage), so that's possible, too. Onyxia I believe can be soloed, but I could be wrong. Blue drake, is EoE, correct?

Kara is incredibly easy to solo, other than the chess part. I believe I have 3-manned Tempest Keep as well. Onyxia...not sure about that one. She probably can be solo'd, but I've never tried. Same with EoE.

Both I, being the mindless dumbass, and a rogue from my guild, have 2m the chess event. Someone just has to take king, and someone has to take priest=insta win.

Yeah I solo Kara every week. Pretty easy. Our guild groups at TK always seem to fail though, so I am gonna need to find a way to make enough money to bribe the PuGs to come along.

Kara is by far the easiest one you can try to solo. Ive even soloed the chess event its basically just moving the king out of the way, then using the queen to hit their king until shes dead, then use the king to finish off that king. Worked great for me (barely 2% left on my king, but still worked!)

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but there's only two ways to get the Blue Drake. 1. Get it in the bag recieved for completeing The Occulus on Heroic after going there randomly through RDF at level 80 (if you queue directly for the Occulus, you won't get the bag), or 2. Getting it in a Tanking/Healing Call to Arms goodie bag. It used to drop in 10-man Malygos, but now the Azure Drake, not the Blue, drops for both 10 and 25 man versions of the raid.

So if the toon you want it on is past level 80, the only way you're going to get it is if you have a tank or healer lvl alt who gets extremely lucky, and you give the goodie bag to them. (remember, the bags themselves are BoA, not BoP. Loot carefully, so that the toons you want get any mounts or small pets dropped in them)

As for any others, I suggest joining PUGs with free rolls on the mounts (if they drop), and hoping for the best. It's not impossible; I got my Black Drake on my Mage that way, and it didn't cost me a silver.

All of those are soloable as long as you are a hunter, although onyxia and tempest keep may be the trickiest ones.

Up until two weeks ago, I was three-manning tk with a couple of guildies.

As others have said TK and Onyxia can be soloed but they're not easy. EoE has also been soloed by a hunter, but I think it's even harder than the other two.

I personally don't like the idea of paying big bucks for "old content" mounts. Rather it's better to take maybe 1 or 2 others with you that either aren't mount collectors or that would be willing to take a tip for their efforts. I 2-man TK, Onyxia and EoE every week.

People on wowhead have reported getting the blue drake and azure drake from EoE10 after 4.2 and I hope they're being truthful because I need azure, my partner needs blue.

Vial of the Sands you will have to save up the gold for the mats at the very least; no getting around that.

Poseidus should be camped, if you have the time to spare. It might be a long, frustrating camp, but it can be done.

if your a hunter or warlock i recommended soloing the black brood mother she isn't that bad. as for keal and so on you can two man him along with malygos and if ya were on my server id take ya with me XD

As of either 4.1 or 4.2 the Blue Drake now drops from EoE again.
There are several videos and screenshots of people having BOTH the Azure and Blue drakes dropping off Malygos recently.

I'd suggest doing a bit more research onto a mount before you say it's no longer obtainable. It's been back in the raid for quite a few months now.

^^^^ VERY true! I have seen SSs on Wowhead of them both dropping together and I went and did 25m Maly with 10 others yesterday and the tank said he saw both drop on last weeks run (he won the Azure and now wants Blue).

We also 9 manned 25m Sath 3D - was very easy, even when tank and 3 DPS died on the lava because they didn't think they needed to move anymore lol The Twilight Drake dropped....and I rolled a 6

I have seen the Twilight Drake drop and that was back in the end of September. Our tank that was with us won the roll. (I was only like 2 numbers below him...lucky turd lol)
