Ailey's Pet Dairies

Recently my hunter became a blood elf. Regardless of how typical blood elf females are these days, I absolutely love her to pieces. Its surprising how this change has effected my game play when it comes to my hunter. While I may still be shooting at things the same way, the area concerning my pets has taken a 180. Her stable changed in more ways than one. For starters, all my hunter's pets changed names. I re-tamed the common skins, and used certificates on the rares. The names I selected were names I never thought I would use since I always chose serious names... mostly due to RP. But I have no intentions of RPing this character with all her pets so only one or two will be seen if I RP her. So silly/cute names are what I went with and they all have to do with food/herbs/plants (Except Chloe). And I also tamed some new pets and some old skins with new colors that I usually passed up because I was so picky. My gosh, It feels so much better to not be picky and to select "cute" names instead of RP names. I hadn't even RPed my old hunter (well same hunter, but the draenei version) in so long that I don't know why I kept to the "RP rules". Heh, who knows... I'm just weird. ;)

Anyways, I wanted to make a pet diary to showcase these pets, some old and some new, but I am seeing them in a new light now that they have a dramatically different master. They deserve some spotlight. And since they are already tamed and whatnot, I will be adding entires based on a pet spotlight sorta format, cause I can't simply write an entry based on new tames (Cause they are already tamed =P) Eventually there may be something I just want to tame for no reason (Or maybe for a reason) but for now I have a nice stable and I just want to show and tell it :D

But before I do that, you need to meet Ailey (I'm pronouncing it as eye-lee). And here she is in on of her smexy mog outfits. Not much to really know about her besides her pets, so yeah.

First entry is on its way, I just need to write it first!

For my first entry I decided I would dedicate it to my newest pet, Belladonna. I actually just tamed her today. In the past I have had a devilsaur, but it never quite stuck. The particular coloring I had before was the black one. I had actually given it two tries, and both attempts didn’t click. And interestingly enough, I always liked the white/purple version the best (even though the eyes are a bit too dramatic), but I refused to tame it when she was a draenei because I had this whole thing about blue/white pets (don’t ask =P)

Basically, I remember looking through the pet guide today trying to see if there were any pets that I liked and didn’t have, and I remembered that I had wanted this devilsaur once upon a time. Well, a “new” hunter means new possibilities and this girly was a perfect fit.

Image

At this point I had to have her, so I hauled my boney behind over to Un’Goro Crater, hoping to just find her wandering around somewhere.... Two hours later I started to wonder why Blizzard didn’t make these rare. They patrol all around from what it seems like, so if you aren’t looking in the right spot, you can miss it a lot. I must have, since I flew in circles for what felt like forever. Eventually, I found her and it was worth the trouble, and I like to think she was just playing hard to get.

During the time I was searching for her I had come up with the perfect name. Which of course is Belladonna. She is named so for her coloring, because it is very similar to belladonna flowers, not to mention its a pretty name. I've been calling her Bella for short ❤

I find it very interesting how one skin from the family fits while another doesn't. I know thats not the case for everybody, but in my case the black skin version did not click the same way Bella has clicked. I suppose that has something to do with favorite colors and whats appealing to the eye.

All About Clementine!

So, for those of you who read my thread about a month ago, you will know that I had decided to hunt for a blue or green Madexx. And at first I only saw a red (which I tamed) and a black that I left alone. Many hours spent went by and eventually I ran out of game time and took a break. Of course when I came back the first time I checked Uldum, NPC scanner went off and there she was. (Sorry folks, I don’t always keep the original npc’s gender, so my Madexx is a girl) I immediately snatched her up. I was lucky too, cause during the tame another hunter flew by and watched, and I thought he would try and kill her.

Image

Clementine, what can I say? Why would I name a blue scorpion Clementine? Well, I’ll be honest... a very subtle detail convinced me to do so. The blue Madexx has an orangey color on his pincher and mouth, so when I was going through names of blue and orange foods/herbs and whatnot for my “theme”, I arrived at Clementine. And that name instantly reminded me of the movie, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. The character Clementine actually had her hair change colors multiple times in the movie and at one point it was blue. My brain works in mysterious ways, so when I see connections like this, I go for them.

Image

Image

I love my little Clementine, not many hunters on my realm use their Madexx style scorpions, and even when they do, I don’t tend to see a blue one. It makes me feel a bit more unique when the hunter world (on my realm at least) is using all the Molten Front rares. Also, the fact that her name is Clementine seems to make people do a double take. I have seem more people target Clementine than any of my other pets, and I haven’t even had her a week yet, so thats saying something. I know, its a strange name for a scorpion, but I adore it, even when everyone around me wonders what compelled me to name her that in the first place.

Clementine has been a great tanking pet thus far, and I enjoy her "squeakiness". She also looks funny swimming underwater, almost like a blue lobster. I'm really happy that the blue Madexx appeared for me. For a little while I wanted green, thinking blue would never be mine, and that at least the green would make me happy... but looking back on it, blue was always the one I truly wanted. (No offense to Poppy, my red)

And Now For Kiwi...

Image

Kiwi, better known as Kirix the Mean Green Killing Machine, became a member of my hunter’s family almost two months ago or so. Kiwi went by another name at first, in fact it was actually “Lime” in another language, so she has sorta always been named after a fruit. I could have chosen to name her Lime in english when I renamed her, but I remembered someone had named their King Krush, “Kiwi”, and I thought that was so much cuter. And I happen to love that fruit, so yummy ;)

Image

Kiwi, was my first Molten Front rare spider. She was tamed via the rock and vent buff method, and to this day remains the spider that killed me the most. It took me four deaths to get it right, whereas Solix I died twice and Deth’tilac only once. I’ve watched many other hunters die ten or more times to this spider, so I can say that my experience wasn’t quite as painful. The most memorable moment about that tame was when I watched her shrink down to an itsy bitsy spider, but she didn't come to my side immediately... she just looked up at me on the ledge and it was the cutest thing ever.

I have four rare Molten Front spiders, and I have tamed every spider as well, but did not keep Skitterflame. I sometimes find it hard to justify keeping four fire spiders, but I can’t part with any of them, especially my little green friend. Many people abandon their Kirix spiders due to his common counterpart issue now, but I can’t bring myself to let Kiwi go. It was a tricky tame, even with no competition around, so there is a sense of pride in being her master. Call me a spider hoarder if you must, but Kiwi and the other spiders won’t be leaving my stable anytime soon. (Sorry Skitter, you just weren't meant for me)

One of the appealing things about Kiwi, is her brilliant colors. She has such a vibrant shade of green that it smacks you right in the face. My stables seem to be seeing very eye catching pets these days, so its no wonder that this beauty is apart of it.

I look forward to many more adventures with my little Kiwi.

I love the name Kiwi! When I was about 10 I had a pet lizard I loved dearly named Kiwi, so that name just makes me think happy thoughts :D

I met a nice lady during my camp for Madexx who names her pets after WoW's herbs. I thought that was a really neat idea, and she managed to make the herb names match the pets perfectly. :) So, yeah, I actually think your naming scheme is cute and creative. :D

Yeah, I'm completely in love with my name selections for my pets. Can't tell if my bf is really just tying to mess with me or if he really thinks I'm crazy. I recently tamed my 25th pet in order to complete may stables, Its the green and yellow parrot from Thousand Needles. I named her Sugar, and told that to my bf and he literally rolled on the floor laughing. I mean, he rolled off the bed and was laughing hysterically.

Oh and yeah, I have been collecting RP sets for my hunter for transmog. My priest was a piece of cake, and she is the RP character. Weird how that works, but my hunter has more options and lots of stuff in mail looks cute on her.

What is it with you and making such neat, clean and pretty-looking posts? Makes me kinda jelly somehow. :P

Looking forward to reading more about your pets! I kinda wanna make something like this maybe for each of the pets I tame on my new hunter. The way you lay it out, organise it and colour code it and whatnot makes it seem like you really care about your pets so much, it's sweet.

Aww ty <3

I'm just a perfectionist. I just think it looks nicer to center things and color code stuff. ;)

It just makes me wanna steal all your ideas! :P I'm decent at stuff in Photoshop but I'll never know how you do them neat little background-thingys for your pets.

You mean the images of my pets by themselves with the designs behind them? I used photoshop brushes, and matched colors a bit with the eyedropper tool to get the colors similar and stuff. I used whatever brush looked best on a layer behind them. ;)

Oohh that makes sense. xD But the swirl behind your white devilsaur looks more hand-drawn than a brush if you ask me.
