Hello,
I just recently restarted and have not down loaded cataclysm yet.

Are there any mini -pets that I should get before down loading cataclysm that will not be available after?

This same question could also apply to mounts and Hunter pets though not as importantly.

you have to download it, you cant play it non-cata =/

Yeah, even if you didn't buy the expansion, the entire world was revamped regardless. The old pre-Cataclysm Azeroth does not exist any more.

I dont think we lost any minipets though did we? I know we lost pets but they came back.

The only real thing to note is that the Sprite Darter is now available to both horde and alliance, and with the flooding of 1k Needles, the quest is marked Obsolete. It can be obtained by anything in Felaras.

I am thinking so. I don't think any hunter pet skins were lost completely to Cata.

hunter pets have returned, special drop pets or pets that were quest related have been relocated within the zone. Horde and Alliance have always been able to get Sprite Darters, but Alliance and Horde (who had to already) need to kill random mobs, its a rare drop from every mob in Feralas since the quest no longer exists. The Black Tabby was Horde only, now its a zone rare drop from any creature in Silverpine Forest. Razzashi Raptor was a rare drop from the Zul'Gurub raid, it has since turned into a zone wide drop in Stranglethorn Vale. Im sure theres others but these are the only ones i know off-hand.

Also, i know Hyacinth Macaw is very popular, i can assure, it remains a rare drop from STV, i dont recall reading/hearing that its changed ^^

the hyacinth is rare from ol beaky in heroic version of deadmines

horde werent able to get the sprite darters till cata, it was an alliance only quest after cata they made it a drop

Absolutely 100% wrong. The hyacinth IS still a random drop in STV.

Ol' Beaky has nothing to do with it. Leave the poor retired pirate alone!

Hyacinth never had anything to do with the rare parrot in deadmines.

Also the Horde have been able to get the Sprite Darter well before Cata, since patch 3.1 when they made it a rare drop. For the rest of the pets, as the above have said, some have been relocated. Check out Warcraftpets.com to check on any you're wanting.

And ol' beaky isnt rare anyways XD He's always there.
