Blue Fire Bears?

Just something that occurred to me while on the quest "The Liquid Fire of Elune" quest. The quest has it so you use an item on the corpses of bears and elk in the area to cast them on fire, but the fire doesn't go away till the body has disappeared. What if a hunter tamed a bear and at the point of it becoming tamed it dies, someone uses the fire on the bear then the hunter revives it? Will the bear keep the fire or will the fire fade?

Edit: The idea is similar to the Flaming Boar. Would require 3 people including the hunter and someone on the quest. At the time of the pets tame a 3rd person lands the killing blow while the quester spams their Fire of Elune and the hunter spams revive.

Edit2: This may also work by just casting the fire on an already tamed bears corps sinse their code is no different once tamed than it was while wild.

Plausible in theory, but doesn't Fire of Elune have a cast time? If it didn't, it miiight be possible to have someone kill and fire at the tame time, but if not, then it can't happen, for the bear has to be dead before it can be used.

Yep, went and tested the quest. Sorry, but since it has a cast time dependent on the bear's deceased state, the tame wouldn't work. The fire would have to be added before or exactly as the bear perished.

So, then, what about casting the fire on an already tamed bears corpse? They share the same code and casting the fire is non-agressive, so why wouldn't it work on a pet? After being ignited would it be wiped from the bear if revived?

Yes.

Try it out. I for one would be really curious as to whether effects applied after death stick!

You will not be able to use the item on dead player pet. It will return "invalid target", because it's friendly.

Curious as to what would happen if a Horde tamed and then an Alliance threw fire on it.

If they were PvP enabled, I'm not sure but I think it would still return invalid target (like you can't tame other hunter's pet, even though it's technically the same id as the untamed wild beast).

You are forgetting the Tame on Death Method, this method for this case requires 3 people >>THIS MOB HAS BEEN UNTESTED THERE FOR IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK<<

Required Gear: Get Naked, you want 0% Haste to time it perfectly with the fire. (Or check all your gear and make sure it has no haste on it.)

1. Find out the cast time on the Fire
2. Time it with the Tame Beast
3. Before even beginning to hit tame beast, have the hunter dps the bear down to a One-Shottable Health Point
4. Bring a class with an "Execution Ability" such as Warrior's Execute, Pallie's Hammer of Wrath, Hunter's Kill Shot etc.
5. Once the bear is at that One-Shottable Health Percentage begin tame beast
6. Have your friend with the fire time it with tame beast just right
7. Spam Revive Pet during Tame Beast
7a. If Revive Pet interrupts tame beast, reset combat, and relog, try again.
8. At literally milliseconds before Tame Beast ends, kill the bear
9. If the Hunter is spamming Revive Pet quick enough he will disappear normal size and in the middle of an animation before he disappears.
10. If you did it right, he should retain the Fire Buff,

REMEMBER: I have not tested this, but its very possible it can work. Do not hold ANY of this information against me as I have warned you. This method I have used many times on pets with unique looks, (Example: Lone Hunter with the Sword in his head) and it works still.

I think the reason people are saying that this won't work, is because you can't even USE the fire on the bear until it's already dead. So you can't time it to apply just as the bear dies. It would be impossible to use it while the animal is still alive, so unless it was instant use, you couldn't time it.

@CrystalKitten

That is where you are wrong,

My Strat ALWAYS works. ALWAYS. You have to time it, if it is instant then use it as soon as it dies at the end of tame beast. Please review and think about your comments before you post them please. I had asked SPECIFICALLY >NOT< key word NOT hold any info against me and that is what you are clearly doing. Please again review my comment and yours again.

We could ask the same of you. You are missing Crystal's point, which is that it is impossible for this method to work in this particular case if the fire spell has a cast time, as the animal has to be dead at the Beginning of the cast time to even use the spell.

Then there for there is no way to use it, I clearly said, it appears you missed it to that IT WAS UNTESTED.

Have the hunter use that method and someone else do the fire throwing. Unless the bear has to ne dead before you.can start casting the fire, in that case, it is impossible to tame on fire. Im not sure what quest we're talking about (ive probably never done it if its an ally quest) so I dont know the mechanics of the quest item.

I did it - the bear has to be killed first, and only then you have to start casting the quest item on it.

No need to get defensive ^^ they were just pointing out that the stratedgy wouldn't work for this particular mob, incase someone went out to try this. The item requires the animal to be dead to even start casting, thus, making a tame impossible.

Wow, someone's a little tetchy.

But yeah... since you can't use the quest item at all in any way until the target is dead, you can't 'lead' the tame so they finish at the same time. It doesn't let you cast it and says it 'fails' if the target is still alive, you can't even cast it until the mob is deceased.

Nice thought though.
