Diablo III question

So a quick question about Diablo III: I've never played any of the Diablo games, and I'm wondering, is this 3rd iteration of the game the type of thing one can multi-box? Or is it a solo game? I literally know nothing about the game. The images make it look a bit like WoW.

As far as I know they're still using battle.net so you can't multibox if its anything like diablo 2 unless you have multiple cd keys.

With d2 you installed the game put in the cdkey, created an account (accounts werent bound to cdkeys although they may be in d3). You werent able to login to the servers in d2 if someone else was already logged in and used the same cdkey to install they're game. It would just say it was in use.

It's a multiplayer game but less so than WoW. In diablo 2 a max of eight people could join per game but you logout and your chars are saved on the server. When you joined a new game the maps would change rare spawns would change etc.

It is nothing like WoW, if you have never played Diablo II then here's couple things.

- The game (D3) will be soloable all the way to inferno difficulty.
- It'll be sort of hack-and-slash type of game (obviously it's more complex than that but you get the idea) with camera angle fixed like Starcraft or Warcraft RTS.
- You can play with your friends or other people but it is not required.
- You will need to create a game or join someone's game in order to play once you logged into Battle.net. (or when you killed all the bosses and mobs and want to kill them again)
- This means the world is not persistent, so this not an MMO game.

Diablo is more of a co-op, trading-oriented hack & slash type of game. With Diablo III i'm pretty sure the max number of players per game is 4, so what happens is you log into your account, click [Create Game], type in a title and if applicable, a password. 3 other people can join that game.

Whenever you join or create a game, you start in a town, all the surrounding environments and dungeons are randomized (mystery dungeon style), even if you've explored them all and killed everything it'll be totally different the next game you enter.

It's totally not like WoW, which was my first MMO. I think i'll miss the whole MMO feel that WoW introduced to me, might even find it difficult re-adjusting to diablo at first...

Anyway, what you typically do in Diablo is, you start in "Act 1," on "Normal" difficulty. There's about half a dozen quests and you just make your way through each zone leveling up and collecting loot. Then there's Act 2, Act 3, and Act 4 will probably be the final one. When you kill the boss in Act 4 you advance to "Nightmare" difficulty, where you're in for more of the same, just harder; then "Hell" difficulty, and lastly "Inferno." The purpose for playing in harder difficulties is to increase your chances of obtaining better rare drops from creeps and bosses. Like I said, it's a very trade-oriented game. x3

WoWs a MMO Diablo is not a MMO it's a Hack n slash. I'd like to know why you want to multi-box? I know a silly question but still. O.o

Perhaps he wants to make half a dozen decked out MF chars, and then make a living off the RMAH. xP

Because presently, I happen to enjoy multi-boxing in WoW.
It's fun.
I guess that's as good a reason as any.

However, I see that D3 will not really be conducive to doing so, particularly if it's mouse-driven movement.

You ask that question as though multi-boxing is something bad.
