Mail has lots of nice choices, I readily admit that. I will start this off on that positive note.

And one of my older story hunters had a nice Arctic hunter set, with matching pet and everything. I loved it. Of course it was low level stuff, so I just used it for looks, and I don't have the complete set but I have off pieces that are close enough. Heres a screenie of the full thing (similar in my sig)

That is when I realized the entire thing is leather. Forgive my rant, I know its a good thing we even get this service, it is just frustrating that I can't use it on some of the characters I really wanted to. So close, yet so far away.

Augh I know how you feel. That's the set I wish my tauren hunter could use.
The closest thing I can think of is the Shaman ICC25 set. x.x

I feel the same way. Both of my hunters have leather RP sets that I wish I could transmog to. =(

I have the exact same leather set on my tauren as well (which you can see in one of my random sigs). There isn't any white mail pieces that look arctic themed. As Lupis said the ICC 25 man shammy look-a-like set has an icy theme to it, but you need the luck of getting ICC 25 man runs. I decided to try to get something a bit easier with this:

Mostly pieces from the ICC normal 5 mans and quest items.

I'm afraid I can't think of anything either :( If I do, I'll post again.

I've been thinking about this kind of problem, too. The fact that classes switch armour types at later levels means they can't go back and transmog to nostalgia sets they were attached to earlier in their career. It's a shame there isn't some possibility for low-level leather/mail to be purchasable as replica mail/plate, or maybe simply a significantly higher fee will allow you to transmog an armour type one level below you (though cloth wearers would be angry they wouldn't have as many options then!). Ah well, it's early days. They admitted that the starting transmog rules were fairly conservative, and they may or may not be relaxed with time as they see how things go. So I guess we'll wait and see :) Myself, I'd like to see them allow white and grey options transmoggable. If anything, they tend to look conservative and more like real armour than most of the uncommon+ ones, so it can't be for appearance reasons!

For me, the largest amount of frustration has come with assembling the Tough Scorpid set I want to build. Post Cataclysm, the recipes for Tough Scorpid pieces no longer drop, and my leather worker on one server has the leggings recipe, while my leather worker on the other server has managed to comb the AH to the point of finding all but the boots and wrist recipes (and at surprisingly reasonable prices).

Still, it's a royal PITA having those recipes gone and no one that has the recipes making Tough Scorpid pieces. I love that set because it has a studded leather / brigandine look to it, but is consider "mail armor" and gives me a break from all the scale, chain, and semi-plate looks we have. I know the Heavy Scorpid recipes are still available, but they lack a boot recipe, and I didn't find a substitute I liked. So, I'm stuck stalking the AH until someone either has the pieces for sale, or the recipes show up.

The other frustrating thing I've run into is that some green and blue items don't seem to ever show up in the AH. But, that's relatively minor right now because I think people will put up more items after transmogrification goes live and various set ideas hit fashion sites.

I agree, and some of the white armor in the starting zones looks very nice!

Have you tried asking in trade? I know I have all the old scorpid patterns, but it hadn't occurred to me to put any of the armor on the AH, and that's even with the scorpid set being the transmog set I'll be using! As long as you scrounge up all the mats yourself, I bet you can find someone willing to craft them.

And yes, I'm still looking for a couple of pieces in the Protector set for my alt. Whenever anything shows up in the AH, it seems to be either a piece I've already bought, or the helm or cape, which don't interest me.

I was in the same boat as you, Sigrah. It took me forever to hunt down someone with the Heavy Scorpid Shoulders pattern. It no longer dropped in Cataclysm.

I ended up finding someone through the official forum. I posted on my realm forum and eventually got a reply there. The realm forums usually don't move too quickly so it'll be on the front page for quite a while, you could try that. :)

Yeah, I know. I've managed to find someone on one server to craft the missing pieces. I used armory on the person I bought the Tough Scorpid recipes I found on the AH a couple days ago, and it turned out she was a Leatherworker that had all the recipes, so I got the missing pieces I can't make myself atm.

Still, I really want to get my hands on the patterns so that I can make extra's as needed. As it stands now, I'm down to needing just two recipes on each server, so hopefully I'll have the full collection soon. I'm sorry to hear about the Heavy Scorpid recipes, I was under the impression they were still available for some reason. Don't know why I thought that, but I've been hunting sets for so long that I don't know up from down anymore. On the plus side, I've gotten real good at soloing Vanilla raid bosses, especially Razorgore.

Ahh, gotcha.

Yeah, the Heavy Scorpid set seems to be split. I believe a few patterns are still available, but a couple went extinct with Cataclysm, and the shoulders were one of them. They're really great looking shoulders too. Just a simplistic, spiky black model, but one that isn't like any other. I was so relieved to finally get them crafted for me.
