Do you feed it birds? XD Um Pinky? Sorry I'm poop with names. It's very pretty I'd love to have one but I don't think you can have them as pets here (like most cool things, Stupid island animals don't know how to defend themselves!)

Hehe, nah birdeaters are fed crickets mostly just like any other pet tarantula. They can handle the occasional pinky mouse, or sometimes treats like locusts or mealworms. In the wild they're capable of catching and eating birds due to their size, and other larger animals such as rats or snakes, but even then it's rare.

Ah so it's one of those missleading names like Lionfish. There goes my ideas of them jumping around catching birds! haha.

Ahhh, Shadra, totally over looked that..tempted.. :3 Shelob is awesome too, love LotR.
And no I wouldn't feed it birds xD they rarely eat them in the wild anyways. I wouldn't even feed it a pinky personally, calcium buildup is fatal. She'll stick to roaches, crickets, locusts, silkworms/hornworms, stuff like that. ^^

Beautiful! We have a Hongarian Curly Hair who is about 14 months old with about a 2 inch span currently. We started calling it Peter (after Spiderman) before we realized we always refer to it as a her! I can't wait until she gets big, tarantulas are such beautiful and unique creatures.
I'm not really good with names, but I think classic, old fashioned names really suit them.

Aww, Curly hairs are so floofy and cute ^^ They grow really slow though! The one I have commonly grows to 6" in one year.

Woah that's fast! We didn't realize how slow Curlies grow until we already had her, but it's okay because its allowing us to get used to her. She's our first spider and I have a tiny bit of a fear of them, but I have held her and am no longer nervous of her.

I like the fuzzy/furry spiders, it's the long legged creepy looking ones I have issues with.

Just quick little update on her~ She finally moved from the container and has been chillin' in her burrow this morning, though she doesn't seem to feel the need to hide- she's been all over the tank, climbing up the sides and everything. I heard that they were good display pets, but I didn't realize it was that much :> Going to toss a few crickets in for her later. And hopefully not get haired.
