What the title says. What type of music calms you the most? Is it some type of game theme, or even symphony?
Feel free to post below, and relate to others!
(Note: I'm sorry if a thread like this has been made before. It just came across my mind in guild chat/server chat (Minecraft))

Well, I'll be the first. The music that calms the the most is SoTC music (Shadow of the Colossus). 'Specially Snowfall on the Forbidden lands OC remix. This is the version I listen to if you wish to listen for yourself

Another I like is Blue Dragon: Cave. Peaceful melody. I used to go into the sea cave and stay there for a while just so I could listen to this. I also listen to this when traveling through caverns on Minecraft

There's an anime called Mushishi, and it has the most beautiful, calming, atmospheric soundtrack I've ever heard. It has a very traditional sound, with Japanese instrumentals. I always put it on when I need to just relax.

I've never heard of the said anime, but that is very calming.

I myself listen to a lot of Japanese oriented music...at least I am fairly sure it is..

Overall, I listen to a mix of Zelda, Okami and Final Fantasy music. For example, Kaze no Ne.

Call me silly, but I love the Cataclysm soundtrack. I misplaced my CD that came with the collector's edition, but sometimes I'll start up WoW and leave it on the log-in screen just to listen.

I don't have my copy of Okami anymore(and any efforts to replace it have failed - I can only find the Wii version now) but I loved that soundtrack as well. :)

As for non-soundtrack stuff, depends on my mood! I don't listen to a lot of 'calm' bands though. :P

Vocal trance mostly. I know that's weird for a lot of people, but... everyone's different. :>

The InuYasha OST calms me down a lot. As well as Owl City.

Depends on definition of calming. If I'm going into a panic/anxiety attack, I like stuff like Marianas Trench (honestly, I still think their newest album is brilliant.. been listening to it non-stop), Simple plan (newer stuff), or All Time Low. This kind of music has a "washing away" effect once I start getting into it and singing along.

As for calming as in relaxing when I'm already feeling okay, I would say.. I adore Vashj'ir music. It sounds like water, which was always extremely calming for me.

I'd probably go with chamber music.

Uhm...A lot of Carbon Leaf has some real mellow stuff that I like to listen to.

Kitaro is pretty calming. And Sigur Ros. And Loreena McKennit. She's amazing.

My personal "calming" music is the vocal music of British composer John Rutter. (note: the English lyrics sung at the beginning of this piece were the words I spoke at my father's funeral).
As far as classical goes, it's a bit on the "pop" side (a lot of people frown on his music, saying it's not "serious" enough), but hey, I still like it. Classical music can't ALWAYS be about angst and sturm und drang.

Otherwise, a lot of 20th century classical music, mostly by American composers (Barber, Schuman, Copland, Muczynski). Waddayawant! I can't escape my work!

I'm firmly on the casual end of listeners. Grew up with the radio always on the classical station. A little training in music theory and piano in my teens, but haven't played in years.
A couple of my Pandora stations are classical: one that's mostly 20th century chamber music, and I'm afraid the other one is unapologetically centered around Beethoven symphonies.

Besides Loreena McKennit I really like Enya and the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack when I want something calm. Sometimes even Nightwish works well for me.

The music of rain literally.

Other than that, I have a wide selection of songs to listen to; it's whatever sparked my liking to them. I have found recently I like more music in Pop, Rock, or similar genres. I also like video game music.
