My excess Justice didn't get converted to coin

So today was a packed day of me soloing vanilla raids (still no Heartsriker from Broodlord Lashlayer, the jerk), but now that I've had time to look at my JP, I noticed that my Justice Points were well over the 4,000 cap. Meaning, all the valor that got downgraded to justice didn't convert to coin after reaching the cap, it just exceeded it. On one toon, I had 4800 JP. It wasn't a client error either as I was able to spend the excess to the point I'm now at 123 JP on the toon that had 4800. So, I'm wondering: Did anyone else have this come up? I'm almost afraid to spend it on other toons atm.

I didn't get gold either. Good catch. Hopefully this will get fixed.

I noticed the same thing, I wasn't complaining though.

I believe on the website they say that the onversion will allow people to go over the cap. This was in the blog about the season ending. So it is intended, according to that blog post.

Oh hrm, I wonder why that change wasn't put in on the PTR then. Was constantly getting gold compensation there!

I haven't been online yet, since I am at school, but if I were under the jp cap, would I lose anything then? And has anything happened to the vp?

What happened last time is the initial conversion allowed you to go over cap but you just couldnt accumulate any more until you dropped back below 4k. Maybe thats what they did this time too?

One of my guildmates ended up with 12,000 justice points somehow. He can't figure out what he's going to do with it all. Buy a lot of crafting mats, I guess....

I don't know, I just expected my excess to be converted to coin and mailed to me because that's what happened on the PTR when I copied one of my toons over there to do one final check on transmogging. Honestly, I'm not complaining, I'd much rather have the extra JP to blow at the vendor than 55 silver per excess point. It made gearing up a bit easier.

Sounds like he caped on Justice, Conquest and Valor.

not sure what the conversion rate is for JP to gold, but heavenly shards (600 JP) sell for around 100g each on my server, so 1g per 60 JP.

10 gold for 600 JP vs 100 gold for buying a Heavenly shard.

I think your math is off. 100 gold for 600 JP breaks down to be around 0.1667 gold per JP(rounded up).

As for the conversion rate Blizzard has / had, it was around 55 silver per JP over the cap. Personally, I'd much rather have my JP exceed the cap when they downgrade Valor in future patches, it makes getting gear that much easier. I can also use any excess to buy the BoE 378 iLevel Wrists or 359 iLevel Boots for alts as needed (or to sell in the AH if the market is good for any of them).
