An Unexpected 'Keeper' - Meet Blue!

I have been trying to find Raun a Tenacity pet without much luck. I'm not overly fond of the bear models. The worms are cute, but not quite right. Scorpids didn't seem to fit him! The only turtle models I really like are the two newer ones, but even taming the one in Blackfathom Deep did not click quite right.
Well, at 75, I headed into Sholozar Basin and grabbed a rhino just outside of Nesingwary's Camp. I was only planning to use it for a few of the harder quests to hold multi-aggro. Impulsively, due to his color, I named him 'Blue' and off we went on our little adventure.
It shocked me how much I liked him! I've never really had a rhino stick before, but Blue was oddly endearing and comforting to have as a companion. Peaceful, relaxed and steady until it was time to fight, at each point, he became a steadfast guardian. He stuck with me all the way to 80 and is now ready to accompany Raun into the 'wilds' of Mount Hyjal.
Here's a quick shot of Raun and Blue, in new gear and ready to head out into new adventures. At least once maintenance is over.

I've never seen a belf hunter with a rhino before. You two look really good together. Now I'm tempted to go try a rhino out!

They really are! The fur/hair looks silky and pet-able, and even the skin has nice wrinkles and texturing. I was surprised by how detailed and handsome Blue was until I got him.

Admittedly, the special abilities aren't overly useful. Increased bleeds does little while soloing and Horn Toss is more fun to play with, or use in PvP than practical.
Still, he has a lot of personality and charm that makes up for it, in my opinion.

Yay, another person who recognizes how awesome Rhinos are! I tamed one on whim at one point and fell in love. They're never what you expect. I used to think they were, hands down, the ugliest mobs in the game. Now I think they're adorable and sweet.

I 100% agree.
I never really found them attractive, but having one now, I'm really loving Blue to death. He kind of reminds me of a bulldog.

Not 'pretty' or 'elegant', but very endearing and oddly adorable.

I like rhinos a lot, actually, I just haven't been able to actually click with one. Maybe I just haven't found the right one yet.
You two look cute together!

Ok... just had to share this. I was inspired by your post to go try out a rhino. I had only tamed one back in Lich King beta, and I don't think they had Horn Toss back then. I've been spending a lot of time in Northrend lately, trying to farm up a bow for transmog, and so I took a rhino along with me for fun.
I had completely forgotten how huge they are!
We farmed all evening, with no success, but I was starting to really like my new buddy.
So I logged on today to do my daily lunch time Sethekk run for the Raven Lord, and I still had my rhino out - so she got to come along. Turns out she was my lucky charm!
I've been farming this mount for so long! I don't even have a proper count since I only started killing the last boss recently. But it was something like almost daily for 6 months or so. I was so ecstatic, we ran into the remaining mobs together and Horn Tossed them around in celebration.
So my rhino has earned her place in my stable for sure! She needs a name. Probably something dainty, since I was amused at how giant she is, yet she can stealth along beside me around mobs (I imagine this huge wooley rhino tip-toeing around).

My only beef with rhinos is that their specials are kind of whacked. I like them as pets plenty but a) giving a bleed buff to a spec that has no use for bleed buffs, and b) their Stampede being manual-triggered AND on the GCD limits their functionality for me in a huge way. Which is sad 'cause they'd be great in battlegrounds otherwise....(and I do like the models)
That said, if they ever decide to include clefthoofs in this family... I am so there. Gimped, crappy specials and all. BANTHAAAARRRRRR.....

I recently had the same thing happen to my Tauren hunter. I cleaned out my stable of pets I didn't use because I just found myself collecting white pets and decided to try out a rhino. I went through all four colors in the order I thought I would like them, however the last one I tried, the blue skin which appealed the least to me, that ended up staying. I named him Sunukkuhkau, Algonquin name meaning "he crushes." I just call him Sunuk for short.

So nice to have a pet that doesn't look so small compared to my Tauren. He's bigger than me!

Rhinos mean serious business. They do seem to be underappreciated, despite their size being a furry tank.

Kalhoun, you look great with yours.
Yeah, Blue is my main tanking buddy right now. He's a big, sturdy fellow and I'm really fond of him. I do wish the specials were a bit better, but it's nice to have a tank pet that really looks like a tank!

Rhinos are just so lovable! I'm glad to see more of them being tamed! Mine is a brown rhino named Ponto.

He's just so playful and happy and like a giant puppy almost! <33 Yay rhinos!
He also loves being shot out of cannons, apparently.

Yay Rhinos!
I have one on each of my 85 hunters and my 78, and they are my default tank pet after the Shale Spider. I use the SS because that web ability stops them long enough that my pet can get aggro if I forget to misdirect. But the rhinos are my favorite design of a tank pet-I even have a story I am writing featuring the rhino that Shade has as a character. She has the personality of a overactive puppy and loves playing with just about anything she can get a hold of-people or things...
Shadé and Greymalkin:

Gypsi and Tiny:

Styxx and Rintintin

My biggest goal in game right now, after getting Shade some good gear from the raids and randoms, is to get Riz, my little goblin, up to a high enough level that she can tame a grey rhino.

Well crap, I ended up picking one up tonight on a whim (Farunn in Sholazar) and really like him, now that they took away the stomping. Punting stuff is fun. XD My guy is named Shags. I also tried out a white one since it matched better, but it felt like an imposter. I like gray Shags better, whether he matches me or not.

I have loved rhinos since the Wrath Beta. As soon as it went live I went to Borean Tundra and got Floyd, who is by far and away my most favorite pet. (SSHH Don't tell Swift he's in second place XD)).
And because I can (Though it's not the greatest picture):

Eeee, I love how this is almost like a rhino appreciation thread now!
