Chimeras; Overpowered?

I was doing Raid Finder for Dragon Soul last night in BM spec, since I am recovering from a stupid choice of trying to go pvp in survival, and Raid Finder is a quick way for easy loot. We do Morchok, I get the gloves, whoopee. We head over to Zon'ozz, nifty, no loot, off to the other squid whose name I forget. I pull out my Chimera, because I wanted to see if the buff for Chimera's AoE was really all that. Take note that I'm still in practically ALL season 9 pvp gear, save for my trinkets. Everything is reforged for crit or mastery, making up for the lack of extra stats. During the first two bosses, where there was no AoE to worry about, and my dps was around 12k~. Really bad damage, and I was surprised they didn't boot me.
Now, we get to squidface with the oozes, and bam; the little adds spawn, and I spam Froststorm Breath on my chimera, as well as multi shot. My dps rockets from 10k at the time to 26k. It dropped fast after the adds were dead, but such a ridiculous jump in my damage when there were adds? Am I just really bloody good, or is the Chimera overpowered?

Not sure if it has anything to do with the chimaeras, i have had a similar DPS boost in that part of the dungeon while using a spirit beast, I was personally sure it has happened due to the fact that i multi-shoted with BW and trinket on CD.
Any other experiences?
PS: And I have also had a terrible dps in the beginning, but i was talking on the phone xD

Chimeras (as well as worms) had a dps boost to their aoes by 20%. Tho I still wouldn't think the numbers would go that high...I started using my Chimera in FL trash, but haven't been paying attention to the numbers.

My chimaera hasnt done that much...infact I do better dps with my worm than my chimaera.

Very odd. I've been doing dungeons, but my luck has run dry and I haven't had much AoE to do. My Marksman spec obviously blows the ever-living crap out of BM still (bad design plans, of course), but my chimera does do quite a bit of damage with that storm, making my damage seem on par with MM. With a Core Hound, Spirit Beast, and my personal favorite; spore bat, I can't do the same amount of damage at all. I haven't done raid finder since the first post, but 20% seems a bit...lower. I don't see how on AoE I can jump to 2x that much when I'm obviously not that good at raiding with the hunter. A complete scrub doing the same numbers as other classes whose gear is better? As much as I like it, I think that the two headed buggers need a nerf.

Keep in mind that AoE will show a drastic increase in DPS since it's the sum damage hitting multiple targets simultaneously. It's going to be inflated due to that, you aren't actually pulling that much DPS on single targets. For example, if I pop BW and start spamming Multi-Shot along with an Explosive Trap and a worm's Burrow, I can get 50-80k DPS sometimes due to all of that, and depending on how many mobs are in the AoE. For sake of example, let's say I toss down an Explosive Trap that does 100 damage to a mob. On one mob you'll be doing 100 dps, but if you have 20 mobs standing in that and they each receive 100 damage, you're suddenly doing 2000 dps. Does that make sense?

Makes sense, yeah. But, I didn't have that many mobs to spam aoe on. I hate to admit it, but the only AoE I did was the chimera one. I was just focusing boss. I see what you mean though, and I do that on my warrior main often.

As BM, your pet's AoE is your main AoE. Your multishot won't hit nearly as hard.

I've had my DPS do that in BM back when fighting the Brewfest boss and his crowd - and that was with no worm, just multishot, DPS pet, and lots of CD goodness.

AoE is usually much higher than single-target dps. 26k isn't a lot for AoE--I've had upwards of 100k on large packs with the worm. It's not OP--druid's swipe will do much the same, as will any good AoE ability. If you BW + multi-spam, along with FS Breath or Burrow, you can get quite high numbers.
In short--don't worry about it
