Undead/Zombie/Forsaken Stable - Ideas?

A friend of mine were talking about an interesting role-play idea. I'm thinking I might turn Raun "undead"; I have yet to decide if I'm going to keep the game model a Blood Elf, but give it the whitest skin and that one 'gaunt/dead' looking face, or make him an actual undead, but it was definitely an interesting idea.

I'm sure it's been done before, but the idea is sort of a Dark Ranger-ish Hunter that uses dark magics to "animate" their pets/minions, instead of the magic/ability a normal hunter uses to tame beasts. So I wanted to picks that were 'undead', 'unnatural', or 'Forsaken friendly' since I remember a few quests mentioning most animals either run or attack the undead on sight.

I also decided I want to have the stable be themed for black/ (dull)white/gray with maybe (dull)blue/purple touches, nothing too bright, but more muted 'gothic/'death' kind of colors.

Here's the Preliminary Stable Line-Up:
Bat - they seem friendly to the undead and common in Forsaken Territory
Image

Bird of Prey - the undead eagle/hawk was a natural choice
Image

Spider - spiders are often kept by the Forsaken as pets/guard dogs
Image

Dog - the 'Darkhounds' are seen in several places as Forsaken pets
Image

Wolf - the diseased wolf is a natural choice as well
Image

Bear - again, diseased bear is a natural choice for a zombie pet
Image

Boar - more undead pet goodness!
Image

The 'Maybe' Pets:
Nether Ray - just a neat look, but wasn't sure how well it fit with a Forsaken theme
Image

Wind Serpent - same as above, but wasn't sure if it fit.
Image

Carrion Bird - good color and a good fit, but not sure how well I like the model
Image

Cat - I wanted a cat model, but there are no 'zombie' versions, though this guy seems to match the colors
Image

Core Hound - love the model and the color seems right, but it is "undead" enough?
Image

Devilsaur - someone posted a while ago about this guy as a 'zombiesaur' and I was thinking of trying it out!
Image

Wolf - the ghost wolf is fairly neat looking and I don't see it too much.
Image

Beetle - Carrion-eaters, right?
Image

Crocolisk - Really love the model, but not sure the colors fit in right?
Image

Scorpid - love the Madexx model and this seems to be the color that fit best.
Image

Worm - trying to decide which one I like best.

Any thoughts, input, suggestions? :D

pink devilsaur doesnt look zombie. It looks...pink...girly.

I'd go with black.

White devilsaur is not pink. Pink devilsaurs are the work of Wain. ;)

White works and blended right in with the other options, IMO.

Its got a purple belly and pink eyes and a pink tint to its offwhite color. It's pink. :P

The white/pink devilsaur skin is called trexskinwhite. Better off calling it white.

Anyways back on topic, a few more suggestions:
ImageCursed Offspring of Har'koa work nicely with an undead theme being cursed. The other hunched cats would work as well.
ImageThis color ravager just fits with an undead theme. That yellow-green color just looks like its diseased.
ImageDon't forget a hyena!

Eh, everytime someone asks for that devilsaur, they say "Can someone help me tame the pink devilsaur?" regardless of what its labeled as.

You're line up looks pretty good.

I'd recommend adding a serpent to your roster if you find a skin that you really like.

I'm also not sure whether the Kurken is the right kind of core hound for an undead - although his eyes are red and rather demonic looking, he's too dog-like and fluffy compared to the other in-game models to choose from.

I'd have to agree and say that one of the Cursed Offsprings of Har'koa, or any other hunched cat model, would make a much better substitute than a regular cat model. An exception to this would be Winna's Kitten from Felwood which could be passed off as a plagued beast.

I have a hard time envisioning a devilsaur with an undead hunter from a RP perspective, but if it is something you have your heart set on, I would recommend taming the black model over the pink/white one.

Hmm, I might try out the darker hunched cat model. I've never been a huge fan of it, but sometimes pets just click. It certainly can't hurt to test one out. :D

The problem with the other Core Hounds is they are not really the color scheme I was going for: lava-red, bright fel-green, etc. I might try the "Drakeadon" model. Aren't they supposed to be experiments by the Black Dragonflight on Core Hounds?

Image

I'm not sure about the Devilsaur or not. I'm iffy on one, because I agree, in general, it doesn't seem to work with the Forsaken.

I really liked the idea of the Outlands model White Wind Serpent. I always thought it had a very nice vampiric look to it, which would look REALLY good besides your Undead Blood Elf in case you decide to keep the Blood Elf model. :D

I love the drakeadon. I believe that they are one of Nefarian's experiments, a dragon infused with a core hound, though I could be wrong. The drakeadon matches well with your undead, and I agree that the devilsaur is not very undead-ish, though it may work with your pale blood elf if you do that.

Instead of a fuzzy worm, I picture an undead with one of these...

It has evil red eyes too. ;)

Besides that cat, there are also the white and the black ones that would fit, or even the ghost cat from Darkshore, but personally I like the saber version better. Although my undead have the ghost one as her main pet :P
From the jormungars I would say the white one, but probably because that one, again, is what my undead will use.

Since I run Beast Master as my main, I also wanted to include a Spirit Beast in my stable. However, I need some help picking a good one! Which one do you think suits a Dark/Forsaken Hunter/Ranger type?

Owls always seem to go well with Ranger types!

Both of these are lovely cats:

A wolf can't go wrong either.

I'd suggest Karoma. He looks more undeady. Ban'thalos is a close second.

A non-spirit beast alternative of Ban'thalos would be Olm the Wise. He looks a lot more grey and ghostly. I do agree that Karoma looks more undead too. I always think Ban'thalos as being more moon inspired. :)

I just realized I have another spirit beast you may be interested in: don't know how a bear fits an undead in general, but when I tried out all the SB on a test server with my undead, I tamed Arcturis Image which I never really liked before, but found out he fits my undead pretty nicely.. and I'm not really fond of bears in general :P

I'd suggest Arcturis (who's more ghostly than the other transparent ones) and Ankha for spirit beasts. The dark blotches around Arcturis' eyes and the fact his rear end is almost invisible make him more spirit-seeming. I don't like Ban'thalos because he's the same as Tyrande's pet, and I just can't see an undead having a spirit of the forest for a pet, it clashes in my brain.

Ankha gets top rank on the ghost cats because ghosts (traditionally) are white instead of laser-blue or baby-pink.

Hmm, I might try the 'Jelly-bear'. :D

I love Karoma though, so I'm definitely going to hunt him down.

I've never seen Olm the Wise as anyone's pet. He might be the next pet I go hunting for.
