As much as I am for good humor and all as far as staff goes....it really makes me curious. I mean heck, Im sure most of you see the extremes of actually getting your account perma banned from the game, 90% it just doesnt happen no matter what said person is doing. I guess it really depends on what this guy got "banned" for. If this picture is actually legit it is obvious the guy's a troll to begin with. Maybe I am thinking far to into it, but seeing that screenshot above just made me go "ehhhhh".

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was real, Blizz is quite comedic and easy going at times! And people have had bans reversed (quite often, I'll add) through tickets, so I don't see why he couldn't have his reversed as well.

i highly doubt an image of a unicorn would have done the trick.

I hope to god this isn't real in light of recent events I'm personally going through right now.
I kicked a guild member for being a right tard, he goes in trade and targets me, saying I'm a redneck nothing, to saying I don't belong in the UK, to calling me bitch. Things I refuse to take laying down. I'm screenshotting everything he's saying towards me, as this has been going on for a year now. I've submitted 4 tickets concerning him in the past and I'm fucking sick of it. If this current ticket generates the response I'm not looking for, I will be sending my compiled screenshots to the head GM of Blizz and having him sort this. So help me god, if this racist, ignorant, asshole troll can get un-permabanned with a unicorn, who knows how this troll isn't perma-banned yet.

If I weren't be subjected to harassment right now, I'd think that screenshot absolutely hilarious..but for now it's not. :S Just makes me nervous.

I truely hope you do get him banned..but don't worry about getting him unbanned.

Ban appeals work like this:
A player submits a ticket either explaining their situation or requesting to get unbanned, and a 'council' of GMs (I believe 3 people) review why he/she was banned in the first place. Pretty much they investigate logs, reasons, and if they find that there was some wrong-doing on Blizzard's part, (ex: Banned someone for gold buying when they received free gold from a friend) then the account can be restored.

This happens extremely frequently and even more so in Cataclysm because of how zealous Blizz has gotten about bots. I have read a few forum posts about botters getting their accounts restored numerous times, or people getting banned for a false reason and getting restored, such as the aforementioned gold buying mix up or getting banned for "tampering with the server economy" (which is apparently really easy to do--undercut too much gold on too many auctions and it can get you temp or perma banned.)

As funny as that is I hope that's not a real thing. There were SO many trolls when I played and the last thing that needs to happen is people getting unbanned for unicorns. If they were permabanned, they more than likely deserve what they got.

Well, it might be true because regardless of what we think, some of those GM's do have a sense of humor. I sure the unicorn had nothing to do with it if he got un-banned, but it was a nice twist to a response by the GM. I've had a few myself in answering tickets.

I agree with the others that he should not have been un-banned. Nobody deserves a second chance, especially not in something as serious as a video game. It's also upsetting that the GM took this whole situation so lightly.

I might just write Blizzard a strongly-worded letter about all of this.

I wonder if a police report would do anything ? They could demand Blizzard hands over the account holders personal info etc etc.. Just a thought.

^ thats what I was thinking also. If you're getting no where with Blizz then contact the police and it will be handled quick smart

I'm sure there's something in the ToS that blocks that sort of thing.

Yep and it even mention's in the TOS that they can without warning give your info to the Authorities on request.

Just to update you all.
I got abused for four days straight before I straight up perma-ignored him on all of my accounts. Blizz temp banned him for three days again. It's fairly obvious they aren't planning on perma banning him. I'm not quitting the game and I'm not leaving the server as he's made it clear that those are his intentions. I've ordered all my guildies to right click his name and /report player him. Nothing's being done about his abuse, point taken blizz, you value his money much more than mine. But, I'll keep playing and keep paying to spend time with my friends ingame.

If it continues past this ban, then friend, it is time to file an official harassment complaint to the police. It may sound silly, but seriously, it will get you results and it is worth your time. This kind of thing is genuinely taken very seriously.

Nili, I'm surprised you are still having issues with this person. I had a guy target me and put me on his c*** list over focus magic lol Yep, you read that right. We were in the dungeon in Wintergrasp after taking Wintergrasp. I was on my mage and he wanted me to give him focus magic since I play as arcane. He was a fire mage, who doesn't have focus magic. Well, I gave it to the other mage in the raid and the other mage gave it to me. After he /w me numerous times to put it on him, I finally told him to please leave me alone, I had it where I wanted it. I knew the other arcane mage and knew he'd be at the top of the dps charts. I knew nothing about this other fire mage that kept /w me. After we got out of the raid, he was hanging out in Dalaran (remember those days! lol) and started posting in trade chat that I had made the top of his c*** list. He just kept on and on. I was not in Dalaran but had a guildie /w me and told me about it. I told him I'd just put the guy on ignore. He told me no, you file a complaint against him now for harassment. I told him I'd wait and see if it continued and if it did, I'd report him. Two days later another friend /w me and told me the same thing was going in trade chat and the guy was naming me again. He told me I needed to report it because he had already reported it. I /w the guy and told him if it didn't stop, I intended to report him. He basically told me to get lost and he planned to continue. I reported it at that time. The next day, my friend that had /w me the day before said he had talked to his friend at Blizz and if nothing got done about it, I needed to let him know because his friend said they take that serious.

The guy did it again later that day and I reported him again. After that, I did not see him for quite some time and he mentioned in trade chat he'd been banned so I know Blizz did something about it but I'm not sure how long they gave him. Apparently, it was enough to make him stop though.

Yeah, well he got perma banned.
But he's back. And at it again, this time on one of his friend's accounts. :/
It's giving me a headache. But, I've mass-ignored him on all of my characters. I've done what I could, and I don't want anything to do with him again. Ya know, he's almost like a stalker. Last time I had a stalker, I went into homeschool..:S
