Will this set NPC Scan off?

After reading many of the comments on WoWhead and threads on here, I've made an effort to always have a "regular" pet with me when I do my Firelands dailies. I wouldn't want to mess with a fellow hunter's camping regardless of their faction. However, I recently tamed Olm the Wise, and I've enjoyed having him with me. Since he is still technically a rare, will he trigger NPC Scan? My understanding of NPC Scan is it is affected by zone, so I was hoping that it wouldn't mess anyone up since Olm's home is in Felwood.

I may be wrong on this, and it might be changed, but I know that I've had it go off before, the text stating that the beast is definately a pet since it's found in the wrong place. I think I've read something about this being changed though... (it was some time ago I actually played and looked for rares)

It will only set off an alarm if the rare spawn originates from that zone. So, like, if you summon Magria in Mount Hyjal, anyone who doesn't have Magria cached will have their alarm go off if they are close by. However, if you bring Olm to the Molten Front, there will be no alarm sound, but he will be cached for other people. Clearing caches is a part of using NPCscan though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks! I've just read bad things about people whom would bring specific pets out at their spawn points in order to mess with other hunters. I wouldn't want to do that accidentally. :(

Yeah. It irks me when they not only do that but rename their pet the same as the mob. Then you KNOW they're trolling. I saw some orc in MF the other day with 'solix'. Dumbutt didn't even manage to capitalize it.
