Iron Man Challenge!

There's a topic on the DPS forums detailing an Iron Man Challenge to those that want to try something new. I was considering giving it a shot, and figured I'd post it here to see if anyone else was interested.

The rules are as follows:
1) No items equipped other than White or Gray items.
2) No heirlooms
3) No talent points- no specialization - you may train class abilities
4) No professions, primary or secondary, other than First Aid.
5) No food or water above vendor-quality white items.
6) No groups- no BG's, no instances, no raids, no quest groups. No guilds.
7) No enchants, scrolls, potions/elixirs, or glyphs.
8) No outside financial or equipment assistance (no gold or bags from other toons)
9) THE BIG ONE - if you die, ever, you delete that toon and start over at lvl 1

You may choose any available race/class combination for the IMC as long as 1-9 are followed strictly.
With these restrictions I figured racials suddenly would be a much bigger deal. Here's the list of racials for each race.

I'm torn between draenei for the self heal + hit bonus, troll for the regeneration bonus + bow racial, and goblin for rocket damage + faction discount + haste bonus.

Survivability will be a big issue since you're going to be in whites and greys + no talents or glyphs.

Yeah, I played another game called Shaiya where you actually grinded for months to unlock modes where if you died, your character was deleted. Was the worst idea ever, why would I willingly do this to myself? :S

This is similar to ideas in my post about coming up with new challenges for playing the game. I actually had many of these ideas, but combining them all into ONE challenge wasn't one. But I have thought of doing 1 (already done 2 so many times), 3 (or the opposite, talents but no training), 7 I don't usually bother with when leveling anyways, same with 5, done 8 several times too, especially since I tend to server hop. And I thought of doing 9 on it's own too. Putting them all into 1 seems just a little bit much for me though.

I could never agree to #9 even by itself - what happens if your group wipes because the tank went linkdead, or you made the bottom of the healer's triage list during an overpull, etc etc.

Now that said, I would love to see more solo challenge - things like solo instances where you could adjust the difficulty as high as you wanted (just for non-combat rewards though, so that regular dungeons stay relevant).

You wouldn't go in instances with this challenge anyways. :P

I gave up on this challenge when I read rule #9.. Leveling a druid to 85 with 0 kills and 0 quests, and only gaining exp from exploring, herbing and mining is enough for me. And leveling a hunter with no pets to 85.

Ok, so it's down to solo questing then - which is still extremely easy even in whites or grays. The only difficulty really is that you could become so hazy from the boredom that eventually you stumble into a patrol and forget to hit FD... :P

o.O wow that harsh. I could see a draenei hunter (fd and hot) or Nelf hunter/ rogue working well for this. (shadowmeld + fb or vanish?) I know that shadowmeld has saved my life more times then i can count. I doubt i will ever do this since i had to do a lot of lvling without help/gold/heirlooms to begin with and know how frail you are in grays. >.< I got to about lvl 40 on my draenei mage though without getting killed a year or two back so it could be fun. Good luck to anyone giving this a try. Something with a tank pet and some way of healing will probably do best.
